Two Cuban baseball players who were competing in the US territory of Puerto Rico have disappeared in an apparent defection, US media reported Wednesday. Up-and-coming pitcher Vladimir Gutierrez and shortstop Dainer Moreira, who were playing in the Caribbean Series on the island, vanished Tuesday night shortly after their Pinar del Rio club for Cuba lost 6-1 to the Gigantes del Cibao from the Dominican Republic.
