OK, Ubuntu is _truly_ ***'s system now:

They've re-upped all the old Synaptic Package Manager software-package

repositories, for people sticking with the older (out of date and

no longer supported) versions, at

http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu

I've been running Breezy Badger non-stop since the Summer of '06, only

turning it off when the lightning gets too lively and I have to unplug . . . .

And I'd been using the Maltese LUG's Breezy Badger repository for my

Synaptic Package Manager, but they went ahead and expired it (foreigners!).

And, truly, this business of a new version every six months and not just

stopping supporting old versions-- which is OK by me-- but even trashing

the old package repositories reeked somewhat of Microsoft, really.

"Linux for Dummies", or "Linux for Windows Refugees!"

That was kind of ambiguous. Are you for or against this?

All that stuff you wrote up there. Updates in general, I guess. New

versions of stuff. Modernizing the world. Moving to the new global

community. The new world order. Galactic feferations and such.

Like I say, I'm so old I remember when it was the _liberals_ that were the

globalists and buddy-buddy with the Chinese Commies.

The whirligig of time, eh? not to mention a tidy wad or two of yuan on the

I think we've had this discussion before.

I think much of immediate sub-Saharan and central Africa could well use

being put under a UN Mandate:

Just establish a perimeter of guaranteed carefully-policed and

weapons-free control that people can flee to and keep expanding it until

you've pushed the die-hard lowlifes into the desert or sea.

Just don't let the French or any corporations be in charge of the UN Zone.
