Unable to activate Office Professional plus 2010

I recently purchased an upgrade from office 2007 to office professional plus 2010. It installed fine but when I went to activate it via the internet, it said there was an unsecified error and that I should try again later. It cited code 0x80070001 after the message. When I attempted to activate by telephone it would not activate the cells to input the confirmation id so I could not find a phone number to call. It has now been thirty days and the software has now disabled the ability to reply to emails and edit docs. Very frustrating. Does anyoen know how to fix this or at least give me a phone number in the USa to call?
