Sygy
come on! has LPF contracted a severe bout of political apathy?! I, like many others here, are holding out for Obama. I went to Porchester hall last night with my mother and i saw her vote (for Obama) and i got photographed by some reporter! (lol) but what are your thoughts on the matter and who you wanted to be voted in as the presidental candidates? Black_Angel
Obama seems to be the guy that everyone wants to win, but he's behind Clinton atm so the Americans are doing it all wrong! Sygy
Obama seems to be the guy that everyone wants to win, but he's behind Clinton atm so the Americans are doing it all wrong! When analysing voting behaviour many people will public show their support for a candidate which they may not actually vote for when they reach the booth to avoid allienation from their peers who are all for said candidate. Its the harsh realility of life that humans are two-faced! azemkamikaze03
Well, McCain seems like a good guy, I just feel like he might not do a whole lot of anything for the US. But i guess if I had to vote republican it'd be him. But chances are my vote will be Obama. You don't have to have Military expirience in order to be a great leader or a president. Lincoln was a lawyer and he is considered one of our best presidents ever. Obama's veiws are similar to Clintons in many ways. Some i don't fully agree with, but I think he has a level head. he doesnt really pull of to much bullshit stunts to get votes. He doesnt cry or use his wife as this tool. He seemingly plays it fair and that's what I am looking for in a canidate. Someone who will do things with the right thing in mind. As of nowhim and clinton are tied. i believe she has a slight edge over obama but all the votes arent in yet Quote ¿whysoserious?
Sygy
i have a question, is there a limit for the amount of time that they can run for nominations and presidency. I know that the President can fulfill two term at most unlike was it Roosevelt who did three (? not an american political history boffin). edit: damn you! u got me exciting thinking that he was in the lead!!! Military experience might help to make righter decisions. Quote GONE (Thanks everyone for the good memories)

I know that the President can fulfill two term at most unlike was it Roosevelt who did three (? not an american political history boffin). edit: damn you! u got me exciting thinking that he was in the lead!!! There have been several presidents who have done like numerous terms, but yea they did limit it to 2. As for campaigning you can campaign as much as you like. Well You don't need military experience in order to be a great leader - Well in a country like the US military experience comes handy when your country is being threatened constantly by terrorists. Military experience might help to make righter decisions. Terrorism has nothing directly to do with the Army. A military seasoned leader would be great if we were constantly in war, but for the exception of Iraq really aren't. If you want someone to counter terrorist attacks you'd turn to the CIA or something like that. Plus, President's usually have a cabinet with military advisors. It's great to have a military background but i don't think it's necccesary in times of wars or anything because there is so much army intel to make the decisions for him Quote ¿whysoserious? Friðbjörn
unless it's someone like Nader, it doesn't matter. it's like in economics, it's oligopoly. the two-party system means that whatever the parties do, they just wait for the other one to screw up and then they come out all good looking and win the next election. the extremism on the republican side, both in warfare and religion is unbelivable. a republican president is flat out dangerous for the rest of the world. a democrat is likely to be less dangerous, but is basically gonna do similar bullshit. the difference is that a democrat is gonna claim to make social changes, but he won't. so in actuality, a democrat might possibly be less dangerous for the rest of the world (although disproven when clinton ordered the bombs on civilians in the Kosovo war april 20th 99, same day as columbine) interesting article I read the other day about how the Japs surpassed the US in technological advance cause the states took all the dux students out of unis and gave them jobs with the defense department. and another side of that dice is how all this money is being spent on killing people, in stead of spending money on helping people survive. this goes for the US, as well as other countries considered either 3rd world or dictatorships, or both. the funny thing is that while the states have avoided all government involvement in health care, insurance and so on because of the communo-phobia scare tactics and propaganda (anyone remember hillary trying to establish more state run health care?), you still have an inflated government stretching out all over, with all these warfare divisions and "intelligence" services. essentially they wanna spend money so the cia can get translated lead articles from newspapers in countries like iceland, which is basically useless work, but don't give a flying fuck about the conditions in places like projects. tsinoitcelfer
Give me a politician who will vote to lower his own wages in order to pay for the national debt, healthcare, and all that other shit that we need money for. Then I'll give a fucking shit about politics. FireHawk
I don't feel like getting in political argument with anyone cause I am tired so I will just state a few things. It will be Obama/someone as your Democrats and Mcain/Huckabee (since Huck is out of money and is just staying in to keep delegates from Romney) as your Republican candidates. The way the Republican primary are set up we all know who will be there nominee after Super Tuesday usually. The democrats who ever do there primary different (since they split delegates by state) and even though Clinton got more delegates Super Tuesday proved she is losing the support she had 1 -2 years ago. The next few primaries will determine the presidential candidate from the democrats. I belive it will be Obama. Therefore: -Obama will most likely win President. -I will vote for Mcain as Pres. Of The U.S. I like Mcain because he has some basic beliefs as me and he doesn't swing to far right. If history tells us anything this is very similar to 1968 election with an unpopular war, only difference is parties are switched. A Democrat will win (especially if Obama is nominee). I Clinton is nominee Mcain may have a chance, but very doubtful.
