US Military Deaths in Iraq at 3, 901

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 7:28 p.m. ET

As of Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at least 3,901 members of the U.S. military
have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an
Associated Press count. The figure includes eight military civilians. At
least 3,175 died as a result of hostile action, according to the military's
numbers.

The AP count is three higher than the Defense Department's tally, last
updated Friday at 10 a.m. EST.

The latest identifications reported by the military:

Army Sgt. Bryan J. Tutten, 33, St. Augustine, Fla., died Tuesday in Balad
from an explosive; was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment,
2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.

Two soldiers died Wednesday from small arms fire in Mosul. Both were
assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, III Corps, Fort
Hood, Texas. Killed were:

Army Capt. Rowdy J. Inman, 38, Panorama Village, Texas.

Army Sgt. Benjamin B. Portell, 27, Bakersfield, Calif.

Funny how you only care about them after they're dead. BTW, what are
your stats on 'necessary deaths'?

Since the war was unnecessary and started under false
pretenses, every death was unnecessary, as well as the waste of over
half a trillion of our tax dollars.

Meet my nephew:

"Lance Corporal Andrew J. Kilpela, 22, of Fowlerville, Michigan died as
a result of an explosion during combat operations in Saqlawiyah, Iraq,
on June 10, 2005. Lance Corporal Kilpela was part of the 2nd Combat
Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force."

I regret his loss
and loss of the
other 2,900 of
his comrades.

He needn't have
died in futile cause
brought on by jr's
fractured ego.

His life was wasted
by an incompetent
administration.

That's the sadest
part of it all.

PAKISTAN, AFGHANISTAN, and IRAQ constitute a three-pronged TRAP in
which your WHITE HOUSE WAR CRIMINAL and company have gotten the Un-
United States. But long before Bushie's illegal, immoral invasion of
Iraq, Osama publicly predicted the trap we're in now. And also as
predicted, the U.S. ("Great Satan") will depart the Middle East ONLY
in DEFEAT!

So not only has the possibly late bin Laden "eluded" capture, dead or
not, he's also proved quite prophetic.

And of course, the crimes against humanity that the Bush debacles have
brought to millions should, in a just world, bring condign punishment
to Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Wolfowitz, Feith, Bremer, Franks,
Rove, and all the other gang members.

The first important step is to get out of the denial that we have a right
and a duty to be in Iraq. Even Vietnam was a legal although absolutely
unnecessary involvement of the U.S. The Iraq invasion and occupation was
criminal by every standard, including our own.

Why do you try to turn Sid9's words around? He seems to support
America's best in much more compassionate and practical ways than you
do. It's a damn shame that the American military is callously used up in
an unfounded and unsuccessful act of silly bravado.

Not only do . . . rulers keep many millions of men whose only trade is
war, but these must be supported in worse than useless idleness by the
labor of the poor. Still other millions are trained to war and are
ever ready to answer to their master's call, to desert their homes and
trades and offer up their lives to satisfy the vain ambitions of the
ruler of the state. Millions more must give their strength and lives
to build forts and ships, make guns and cannon and all the modern
implements of war. Apart from any moral question of the right of man
to slay his fellow man, all this great burden rests upon the poor. The
vast expense of war comes from the production of the land and must
serve to weaken and impair its industrial strength..... The lowest
standards of ethics of which a right-thinking man can possibly
conceive is taught to the common soldier whose trade is to shoot his
fellow men. In youth he may have learned the command, 'Thou shalt not
kill,' but the ruler takes the boy just as he enters manhood and
teaches him that his highest duty is to shoot a bullet through his
neighbor's heart — and this, unmoved by passion or feeling or hatred,
and without the least regard to right or wrong, but simply because his
ruler gives the word....Common experience shows how much rarer is
moral courage than physical bravery. A thousand men will march to the
mouth of the cannon where one man will dare espouse an unpopular
cause . . . True courage and manhood come from the consciousness of
the right attitude toward the world, the faith in one's purpose, and
the sufficiency of one's own approval as a justification for one's own
acts."

Supporting our troops by preventing
their deaths is true support.

Supporting jr and his cluster****
means wasting more lives on a
failed enterprise.

Face the reality.

jr is an incompetent leader.
When he had defeated
Saddam, jr did the worst
possible thing.

He invaded Iraq.

I'm sad for the loss of
3,901 American lives
and the lost arms, legs
and eyesight of tens
of thousands of other.

jr wasted them, not those
of us who opposed this
war from day one

people die in wars, that's why they have them

what's important to republicans, hillbillies, conservatives and most war
"supporters" is that the dead ones and the ones serving aren't them or
theirs,
and they gain from the conflict

what's important to liberals is that Americans sacrifice their lives for
honorable,
legal, and justifiable reasons, that the burden is shared, that the "troops"
act in an honorable,
humane, and a legal manner,

that Americans are told the truth, and given the facts continually, that
nobody benefits
from the sacrifices of others

this hasn't happened since that mental midget and hillbilly retard was
appointed,
he hasn't been honest with the American people since 2001, and neither have
the
hate mongering conservative entertainers, the military leadership, the
defense, intelligence,
and homeland security departments

you think after 5 years this military, the most technologically advanced,
best trained, fed,led,paid,equipped,
supplied, supported in the history of warfare would have found a way to
avoid IED's ?
or equipped their soldiers with suitable body and vehicle armor

the question is not one of support, the question is one of
non support from their leadership starting the day the 1st humvee was blown
up,
and continuing with the poor treatment of veterans today

it might be hard to admit that the conservative leadership has been ****ing
up since day one, that they have
no concern about casualties, providing equipment, or giving veterans proper
care,and that they have never
told America why this war was necessary

it destroys everything they believed in and conservatives can never admit
they and their leadership
are and have been wrong all along

the facts speak for themselves

the bush spent more on his inauguration party than he was willing to spend
on body armor

they have killed 1 million civilians and maybe 20,000 insurgents

they have done their utmost to reduce the cost of providing services to
veterans

they have bankrupted the American economy and made their supporters
fabulously
wealthy

they have given us the highest oil prices in history by invading, illegally,
an oil producing country
who will be more economically viable in the future than we will be,and who
will pay us back with their oil revenues , NOT

they have transferred untold billions if not trillions in oil revenue to the
other Arab nations who hate us as much as al queda
and who will also pay their share of having their existence safeguarded by
American troops, NOT

unlike the bush bitch, the cheney pig, and the rest of the worthless
hillbilly republicons, I have seen troops die crying for their mothers,
and good men turned to meat for no justifiable reason at a point where they
knew the war was lost, the cause was not just, and the
only thing worth fighting for were honor and the people next to you

anyone who cares about the "troops" the veterans and their families will
dump these lying, self serving conservative
hillbillies faster than a hand full of ****
