Kings Of Leon

Only By The Night

Kings Of Leon have announced that the follow up to 'Because Of The Times' & their 4th

album to date is set to be released on the 22nd September 2008, this is little over a year

since their last release 'Because Of The Times' which was a massive commercial success

in the UK, reaching number 1 and spawning massive single 'On Call'. The band is headlining

Glastonbury this year and has sold out several massive shows making this one of the most

anticipated albums of the year, the best modern stadium rock band outside of Muse if it's

nearly as good as their last album we are in for a real treat.

Chemical Brothers are one of the most succesful dance/electronic acts around and have built

up a legacy of catchy singles such as 'Galvanise' and 'Hey Boy Hey Girl' essentialy the singles

are memorable. The album will be accompanied by 1 new additonal single 'Midnight Madness'

which will be released on download only 4th August prior to the release of this compelation. I

really don't see much point in this collection and the notable missing additions from the previous

2 albums leaves tracks such as 'Salmon Song' out of the mix all together which is sure to piss

some people off. Looking at the tracklist it reminds me that Chemical Brothers actually sound

really dated now... shame... so i'm not looking forward to this at all.

Rolo Tomassi

Hysterics

Synth punk band from Sheffieled, Rolo Tomassi are starting to get a strong following

after the first album was a critical success 'Untitled' provided synth music as was so

very popular at the time but with a far more edgier presence, it was far more aggresive

then the majority of the peers and this is what got them their fan base. This follow up

is hoping to build on the minor lee-way that the debut laid down and will hopfully grow

their fanbase further. The will be a special free entry show at the 'The Old Blue Last'

at London on the same day.

The Verve return for the first time in 11years to bring your their 4th album named..... 'fourth'

yeap pretty much going the same route as Portishead aren't you lads. This comes off of the

back of recently released single 'Love Is Noise' which is.... wellllll very U2 and uhm yea pretty

poor, I'm not too keen on this release myself but I know this is a band that carries a lot of weight

and will at least appeal to those who grew up in the 90s where brit pop reigned supreme.

Oasis

Dig Out Your Soul

Oasis are going to be BACK! Yes sir they will be back this October with this, their 8th album

to be titled 'Dig Out Your Soul' to follow the 'return to form' 'Don't Believe The Truth' which

was released in 2005! Christ 3 years ago?!?! The band renound for knocking of The Kinks

on their previous effort after trying it on with T-Rex and Beatles in previous carnations are

going strive away from the chrous verse bridge formular to do a more hypnotic groove based

sound... yea I'll beleive it when I hear it. So Don't Look Back in anger if this Oasis release

sounds like nothing you'd like from the 5 piece Some Might Say Roll With It, o i'm so clever with

music titles *shoots himself*

but yeah...I hope they finally do something that strays away from the other stuff

One Day As A Lion

One Day As A Lion see's Rage Against The Machine front man Zack De La Roche team up with

one of the best drummers in the word, Mars Voltas Jon Theodore to form a band called 'One

Day A Lion' the self titled EP is set to come out July 22nd & in my opinion is one of the most

exciting things to be announced for a while.

Conor Oberst AKA Bright Eyes is one of the few artists to be non genre specific as far as fans go

supported by teeny boppers and music snobs of the like he truely is considerd one of the greatest

song writers we have got around today. But as he leaves his Bright Eyes guize to do something

perhaps a little different, I'm interested what this project has us in wait for.

The left over trio from the now departed and missed 'Blood Brothers' one of the great hardcore

bands of our time are now set to release this album which has been stated as infectious poppy

glamcore... so it will probably sound like the bands later work but that is in no way a bad thing,

seriously looking forward to this.

of Montreal are to follow the brilliant 'Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer' this October with

'Skeletal' the isn't much more to tell other then that other then the fact that these guys are

one of the most consistently brilliant bands around today, releasing about 6 classic albums to

date... cool!
