All recommended updates through 26JUN2012
From Windows Update dtd 26JUN2012 Until today 01JUL2012, MSE failed to update and there were no warning signs.
Today 01JUL2012 The Security Center 'went RED'.. I reenabled, updated, and scanned PC with Windows Defender.
My solution / fix / work around, after 7 failed update attempts, and reboots, was to uninstall MSE, Reboot, and Reinstall MSE.
MSE easily installed, updadet and completed a full scan.
