Walker outduels Day on back nine to capture PGA title

Unheralded Jimmy Walker captured his first major title in wire-to-wire fashion, outdueling top-ranked defending champion Jason Day down the back nine Sunday at rain-soaked Baltusrol to win the PGA Championship. Walker won $1.8 million (1.6 million euros) and the Wanamaker Trophy and his sixth US PGA title, the first since the Texas Open in March of last year. "It was a battle all day," said Walker, who like Day had to play 36 holes Sunday due to thunderstorms Saturday that did not let them even begin their third rounds.
