convictions, and the judge sentenced him to 55 years in prison after

he pleaded guilty last week to three counts of DUI manslaughter and

two counts of DUI with serious bodily injury. The Rooks died when

Bernal's pickup truck collided head-on with their car on U.S. Highway

331 in Walton County. A daughter and her friend were seriously hurt in

have accused Somali writer and wanted fugitive Mahamud Abdullahi Isse

of fleeing to Africa to avoid prosecution on rape charges in

Minnesota. A criminal complaint filed in federal court on Tuesday

claims Isse, 72, has fled to the Republic of Djibouti where he "has

been seen and interviewed by local reporters." Isse is charged with

the sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl in December 2006. Accroding

to the criminal complaint, Isse crawled in bed with the girl and raped

her while visiting her family. The victim talked by phone with Isse

and recorded the conversation where Isse admitted to having sex with

with raping three women is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday.

Metro sex abuse detectives are urging any other women who may have

according to a Metro police news release. Mahamed is accused of raping

three women at Seven Oaks Park in South Nashville. He is being held in

police officer Nick Erfle yesterday was an illegal immigrant. Erfle

was a North Dakota native and has family in the Bismarck and Harvey

areas. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency says the man who

shot Erfle, 22-year-old Erik Jovani Martinez, was in the country

illegally last year when he was arrested and convicted on theft

charges. Martinez was then deported, and at some point re-entered the

country illegally. Martinez was killed yesterday after police shot him

as he pointed a gun at the head of a carjacking victim. Erfle had

stopped him shortly before that for jaywalking. Authorities say

Martinez gave police one of his aliases, Anthony Sanchez, knowing he

had a felony warrant out for his arrest. But the alias he gave also

turned up a warrant. When Erfle tried to arrest Martinez, it led to a

fight..and Martinez shot and killed the officer. Phoenix officials say

Erfle was an eight-year police veteran, was married and the father of

two children, and had survived a bout with cancer. -

"Hispanic" Gang-Rape suspect Eleazar Renteria pleads guilty

men charged in the 2006 rape of a 14-year-old girl pleaded guilty to a

lesser charge Friday. Renteria was arrested in July 2006 after the

victim identified him as one of two men who raped her at a party in a

home in the 10700 block of East 166th Street in Noblesville. Miguel

Gutierrez is already serving a 10-year sentence for the crime. An

illegal alien from Mexico, Gutierrez will be deported after his

release.

shows at least 10 witnesses ignored a woman's cries for help for more

than an hour as a man beat and sexually assaulted her, prosecutors

said Thursday. Police said they responded to a call of drunken

behavior, where they found Rage Ibrahim, 26, and a woman lying

unconscious in the hallway early Tuesday. The woman's clothing had

been pulled up, she had fresh scratches on her face and blood on her

thigh, according to the criminal complaint. Ibrahim says he is

innocent and that the incident was a misunderstanding, according to

Omar Jamal, the executive director of the Somali Justice Advocacy

Center who spoke on Ibrahim's behalf.

Illegal migrant from Guatemala charged with sexual abuse of two little

charges that he sexually abused two girls, a 10-year-old and an 11-

year-old. Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith said in a press

release that police charged Antonio Martinez-Garza, 32, on Aug. 12.

Sheriff investigators filed felony complaints against Sergio Antonio

Martinez-Garza in court on charges of engaging in a course of sexual

conduct against a child in the second degree. Bail has been set at

$100,000 cash or $200,000 bond. The sheriff's department reported that

they have identified Martinez-Garza as a citizen of Guatemala and have

notified federal immigration officials and the Guatemalan consulate of

the arrest. Police say immigration officials lodged a detainer warrant

with the jail yesterday that Martinez-Garza be held pending possible

deportation proceedings. Martinez-Garza was arraigned shortly after

his arrest and is due back in court on Sept. 10.

teenage girls

Chien Tai Wu 50 year old Chien Tai Wu came up with an elaborate scheme

to break into his neighbor's homes and attack their teenage daughters.

Wu faces 17 charges including aggravated burglarly, felonious assault,

gross sexual imposition, and rape in connection with the case. Wu

befriended neighbors through a poker club he formed. Deters say Wu

would volunteer for housesit for his neighbors... then would keep

their code to their alarm systems. Deters claims Wu would pay

attention to the neighbors schedules, and when they weren't home, he

would break into their homes and attack their teenage daughters.

Deters says Wu sometimes used a stun gun and chloroform. The charges

date back six years. Officials know of three female victims so far

between the ages of 15 and 17, and they are looking for more. Wu now

faces up to 137 years in prison. -

Nigerian migrant student accused of terrorist threats

Olutosin OduwoleEDWARDSVILLE -- An attorney representing an SIUE

student who authorities say wrote a note threatening a "murderous

rampage," kept a gun in his campus apartment and had sought four more

on the Internet said Wednesday that her client would plead not guilty

to the charges against him. A day earlier, Olutosin Oduwole was

charged with a felony count of attempting to make a terrorist threat

and with a misdemeanor count of illegally keeping a gun on public

property. Oduwole, 22, is a freshman at Southern Illinois University

Edwardsville, where he lived in an apartment-style dorm in Cougar

Village until Friday. According to court documents, that's the day

police found a hand-written note demanding payment to a PayPal

account. The note said "if this account doesn't reach $50,000 in the

next 7 days then a murderous rampage similar to the VT shooting will

occur at another highly populated university. THIS IS NOT A JOKE!" It

appeared to refer to the shootings in April at Virginia Tech. A

student there killed 32 people and injured 25 before killing himself.

The note, as well as ammunition, was found in his car, which had been

abandoned on campus. -

Prosecutor Appeals After Judge Drops Rape Charges Against Liberian

native charged with repeatedly raping and molesting a 7-year-old girl

said Monday that he is filing an appeal of a controversial judge's

ruling that dismissed all charges because an interpreter who spoke the

suspect's rare West African dialect could not be found. Montgomery

County State's Attorney John McCarthy called the ruling last Tuesday

by Judge Katherine Savage "improper," adding that his office has

"requested that an appeal be taken to reverse the court's order."

Savage ruled on July 17 that Mahamu Kanneh, a Liberian who received

asylum in the U.S. and attended high school and community college

here, was denied a speedy trial after three years awaiting a court-

appointed interpreter who could speak the tribal language of Vai.

Linguists estimate that only 100,000 people speak Vai.

Two undocumented Guatemalans charged with rape in sex with girls, 13

sex with two underage Putnam County girls. Police said that Pedro

Sagastume, 21, and Jeremias Perez, 22, had sex with the girls, ages 13

sex was "consensual", Sagastume, who had relations with the 13-year-

old Southeast girl, was charged with second-degree rape while Perez,

who had sex with the 15-year-old Brewster girl, was charged with third-

degree rape, police said. The charges are felonies. New York state law

deems the girls incapable of consenting to sex because of their ages.

Sagastume and Perez are being held at the Putnam County jail in lieu

of $50,000 bail. -

lived together, at least once at gunpoint. -

Indian Creek Nursing Home in Overland Park. A defense attorney says

Jallow would be deported to his home country of Gambia upon his

release. Jallow was accused of raping a 49-year-old stroke patient in

2005. -

the woods. She did and police say Flores forcibly raped her there and

then let her go. Fanelli said Flores has been in trouble with police
