What Do I Do? What Do I Say?

i've just received a bad phone call, rowan, my girlfriend has just been beaten by both her parents.... now this is something i've never had happen to me... my mum occasionally gives me a slap.... but nothing as bad as what's happened to her.... she's calling me back soon and i don't know what to say or do to help.... i mean is there anything to say or do that can make any of it any better? please help asap.... thanks

What did she do? Details. Sometimes kids need a good whooping. You kids are too soft, calling child care services after a good whooping. Please give us the reason or I will automatically assume she is like 95% of America who deserves a beating.

well from what i heard she said her mum just started beating her, then her dad came in, she was screaming and said "f*ck" and her dad started beating her as well.... i know some kids need a hit now and again, but she said her mum was kicking her while she was lying on the floor.... thats a little over the top if you ask me

yeh she called me.... her parents have apologised to her and were in tears.... she seems alright.... sorry for the almost pointless thread.... i just wanted some advice from people who don't know rowan (if you know what i mean, i didn't want to ask anyone who might talk to her.... sorry)

Well did they say why the whooped her ***? I dont think its funny if they just came in and did it you know what I mean? But yeah, my parents wouldnt do that, mainly because they probably cant. They are getting too old for it.

Dude...this is serious. I would definately call the police and tell them what happened. They'll figure this whole thing out and put her parents in their rightful place if they deserve it. If that happens, she could always come live in your house....

i was tempted to.... if it happens again i definately will... cept she wouldn't be able to live at mine you have to be over the age of 16 to live anywhere else other than at your parents, legal guardians or with the authorities.... but i'm definately gonna talk to her about it... it's only just really hit me properly, how serious this is... thanks guys

i didn't speak to them, and i didn't want to push rowan into telling me details..... all i know is her mum just started beating her when she was a bit off with her, and her dad came up and hit her cos she swore.... i mean that is a bit out.... maybe a cuff or something for that, but what i heard is he beat her kinda badly... it's gonna be hard not to want to swing for him next time i see him

I hope your gf is ok after that beating >.< Sure, it's fine for a parent to maybe hit their kid to teach them discipline, but it sounded like what her parents were well out of order and inappropiate. I would be worried for her o_0 Make sure your gf is ok, and if this kinda thing happens again, don't hesitate to call somebody is all I can say.

Well I would talk to her about it. But if she did break the rules, maybe she needed a beating. I value discipline but maybe they went too far. Push her for more details.

yeh it sounded it from what i heard... her parents are being really nice though, trying to make up for it... they're letting her out on friday night (they never do that) and they're paying for me and her to go to 'give it a name' (big emo festival thing).

i'm gonna talk to her about it on friday though.... she scared the life out of me....
