Not sure if this is where to post it but it seems like anything and everything goes here. So like the title says, what does everyone think of the 700's? not looking into buying one yet or anything, but I just figured lets get some chit-chat going on. In my opinion they look a little futuristic for me. IRS would probably be great though Id imagine. Opinions?

I tried to ride one, handles super funny with the IRS as Im used to sliding the corners and stuff. Honestly Im not sure wtf they were going for but its very unpopular round here as Ive only ridden one once and seen maybe a handful of them.

I think where honda went wrong was to use IRS and not go the trx650 route like several have built. No idea why they didnt do what the public wants...maybe not as profitable?

Yea Im not sure. And yea I agree 100% with you on the handling of IRS race bikes. I rode a 500 outlaw and holy **** was that weird. These 450s just stand up when you snap on it and the IRS just sink down and idk feel slow to me I guess? The whole riding experience is different. Was thinking of getting a race bike with IRS for trail riding but not anytime soon. I am just curious about these things

I think they got thier place, just not with me on one lol.

I also think that were to used to the way a solid rear rides, hard to unlearn that kinda style of riding.

Yes exactly man. Everyone has a preference and obviously some people out there liked them. But what you said is true, solid axle vs independent is way different.

The thing I like is the EFI. The thing I find a little weird is how the chain comes so close to the middle. I know it has to be close to the middle for the IRS to work but its amazing how they go it to come almost straight in the center. Idk maybe again like CJM said, were just used to our solid axles...

While EFI is nice, I dislike it b/c tuning it can get complicated. Sure you can get the computer hookups and such and do it yourself-but tuning a carb is way easier imho and simpler overall.

IRS is odd. It is awesome in rough terrain, but if you like to slide into corners it feels odd. The bike pitches and rolls.

700XX just plain sucks! Its too big and way to heavy, handles like a dump truck and its a ****... revs up sooo freakin slow. I absolutely hate it

its pretty much a 650 Rincon with sportier plastic and a tad more displacement ect. kinda like how the KFX700 is just a 700 prairie with sportier plastic. if you want a 700 sport quad go with the 700 craptor... it still sucks but there just isn't much to choose from

What a interesting share of viewpoints and discussion.

It takes a little while for me to get used to a wheeler with independent shocks because i've been riding the 450 for a while now. I think the 700 for honda's was a good attempt because i know many people who use utility 4 wheelers and go through crazy ****. the one's who i know, only have polaris though. They had a can am at one point and got rid of it for another polaris o.0

See, to me a utility bike should be a 4WD, and IMO the 700 falls short there. I agree that if you want a 700 sport bike you need to seriously consider the Raptor.

Ive ridden the raptor, I cant understand the appeal of it.If you ever hopped on one from a 400/450 type quad then its like a giant heavy, unresponsive, ill handling machine. People dont even consider that they only see one thing "Raptor 700" Thats what they want, b/c they think larger engine=faster. When in reality its not at all.

I love seeing guys at the drag races who have huge engines in thier cars get beat by the guy who has a worked 350 lol. Old saying goes "No replacement for displacement", but if done right with todays modern setups its no longer true.

I still say the XR650 powered 450r a few have built is more what the public wants.

As for a utility, imho power isnt everything. Id be happy with an old foreman400. Old hondas are like tanks lol.

Hahaha thats a funny post right there! So what Im getting here is that these things suck. Turning into a very interesting thread.

the 700 its like a sport cruiser....

but not in the utility style... i think in the Baja 1000 2011 it was won by a 700 so they are capable of being a beast jsut need to get used to it..

If You Find Yourself Wanting A Ton More Low End Power And Ground Clearance From Your 450R, Then Look Into It, But They Suck IN sand, aRe Heavy As He'll, And The 11" Rear Wheels Are Gay As AIDS.

haha yea the main thing Im not a fan of is the front fenders/hood area. Yikes it looks scary lol. Im not putting down on anyone who owns one though, like many have said they do have their place just not for me. And as far as the utility aspect goes, it would be neat to see Honda make a version of the can am renegade or polaris scrambler. Honda utilities last forever, but IMO they are lacking in power, and comfort vs other brands.

Honda builds utility quads to do what utility quads were made to do and that is work. these other sporty utility ATVs don't know what they are... too big, heavy and bulky to be a sport quad but not heavy duty enough to hold up and last when being used as a real work quad.
