What is Spam

that all of you are for the anti-spam policy.

I'm for it too, but I can see and have seen that everyone has different ideas about spam.

So I'm wondering what would be considered spam here. (hopefully not this thread)

Posts that don't help the thread in any way.

And posts like *hides in corner* and **** like that.

At least that's what I consider spam.

I know that the Mods and ATLien, many times, have listed what they consider spam...I'll try and list them best to my memory.

1. Advertising - basically anything that doesn't in add to the site, like "go to my forums" or "support my site"

2. Off-topic - going off-topic in a thread is considered a form of spam, so remember this when you feel like going off on a tangent.

3. Posting about a previous subject - starting a thread that has the same subject as others in the same forum is spam. Use the search bar.

4. Internet Slang - Excessive slang or leet speak is considered spam, since it can cause problems with effective communicating.

I can't think of anymore, but those are some right there.

Well, yeah. That is pretty much the basic definition of spam.

I was wondering about the internet slang for a second, then I realized you meant acting like a "teenie"

Also one other thing that has been getting on my nerves is the subjects. "Check this out" is not a subject. People need to use the subject line to discribe what the thread is. It is not spam but it is something that is being one alot.

It's pretty annoying though reading through pointless posts and spam. My idea of spam was always pointless comments, typing "lol" as a reply, double posting, repetative threads, off topicness etc. Everything that was said above ^.^ But we're all guilty of it one way or another!

Does this mean a post consisting of nothing but the word LOL, for instance, or a good post but that contains LOL within it? Because I feel that there's nothing wrong with that sort of thing as long as it's included within a decent post...
