cmlp
I was being stupid and came across this on the net. Grohl on LP [11 Jul 2005|03:04pm] linkinparkyay http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds22477.html Foo Fighters unimpressed by Linkin Park Saturday, July 9 2005, 17:30 BST -- by Daniel Kilkelly Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has criticised bands such as Linkin Park for their use of backing tracks when performing live. "We don't try to play perfect, like on the record," Breakingnews.ie quotes Grohl as saying. "I'd rather sound awful and have the chance to change things at a whim than sound like Linkin Park or Motley Crue because of today's technology. "They feel naked when it comes to playing live." Now, I love the Foo Fighters almost as much as I love LP, but I didn't think LP had backing tracks like Dave Grohl talks about. (I thought only pop ppl like Ashlee Simpson had them.) Same with Motley Crew. Quote [broken External Image]:http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p184/mizuki69/sig.jpg
brokenangel
yeah i read that and i was shocked! do they seriously use a backing track??
uwantme2b
I don't honestly believe that they do... I mean has this actually been confirmed anyway? Besides, what is wrong with using technology to sound good? Personally I would rather sound good by using some technology, than sound awful and put all my fans off. Shadowed Heart
I dunno if they do or not, and I don't care. It doesn't matter what they use, as long as they still sound good. Hahninator
Of course they do. There's no way LP can nail the DOYS/LFY intro That's a backing track, Big Pimpin/Papercut the first beat is a backing track, Numb/Encore doesn't use anything except the kind of screeching sound you hear at the beginning. Jigga What/Faint doesn't use anything on the intro, it's all Phoenix and Rob But when the Faint part starts of course it's a backing track. LP uses them a lot during shows, etc but probably the most recognizable is DOYS/LFY on Live 8. Sorry to dissapoint people I'm possibly wrong on some of this stuff, I'm just saying I don't think LP can play those parts so they do use backing tracks for stuff like the LP/JZ and Faint. As far as any of the LP songs, the Crawling intro was the only thing I heard that was a backing track. So the very first thing people heard of LP at Live 8 was a backing track

I don't consider the LP / Jay-Z songs to be actual LP songs, not like their own songs. And as Shadowed Heart said... I couldn't really care... LP are LP Besides, for Live 8, it had to be good. It was in a good cause after all. i_love_mike_shinoda2
I dont really care. Those backing tracks are really small that no one really cares about. Now if like Chester wasnt really singing or Rob wasnt really playing drums now thats a different story. I think that dude from the Foo Fighters is just jealous. I like the Foo Fighters but still.. you dont complain of tiny little backing tracks used.. geesh.. Black_Angel
Pfft, Dave! How dare you!! I love the Foos still though To be honest it doesnt bother me if they use a bit of backing tracks, I'd be pretty pissed off if they constantly used them though Quote i still love you, girl from mars. Commander
i´m sure, that they use this stuff. some parst of there music u can´t play on a guitar, a bass, a drum-set or a turn table. i think these are the parts wich uses backing tracks. Pheonix791989
as long as the fans are happy then it shouldnt really matter right? and with the Violins, they have to have that on the tracking thing you kno... its not like there gonna be a bunch of violins on stage. but it shouldnt matter as long as its an awesome show then we're all good. Qwest
I've heard artists perform live, on TV even and sound HORRIBLE. Who wants to pay to go to a concert and hear CRAPPY music? Long as it isn't totally prepared meaning chester is actually singing along and the band is actually playign so we hear their real talents it's coo with me too Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/8ccf4d69b6805f847fd8104b3eaee20d.png [broken External Image]:http://www.lapgamer.com/lapgamer_banner728.gif

You're going to stop being a Foo fan cuz of this???!!! THAT'S INSANE!! I didn't want this to happen, I just wanted to know what people here thought. As for using backing tracks, oh, I had no clue they used them. *blondeness showing* Whatever, at least we know they CAN play their own shit. LPGotLinkinPark
I can see how they have to in the LP/JZ stuff because the stuff that comes from JZ is all digital stuff besides like the drum beat and stuff. I think the only things they back track are when they use orchestra intruments (like in Faint and Breaking The Habit). Even for Crawling I don't think they do. The intro is digitally produced, but it's not pre-recorded stuff that LP sings along to or whatever. Izzmo
Just think of it.. do you think LP would use Backing Tracks to sing? Chester isn't like that, he's all voice at his concerts. The only stuff they gotta his is all the digital things because they obviously can't do that on the spot at a concert. But if they could, I'm sure they would! Clogz
Yes, Linkin Park does use backing tracks during thier concerts, but I don't see a problem with it. The band's songs are technically refined because of Mr. Hahn's 'techno' work with the samples and the beats...so they would almost have to have some kind of backing track playing. It could be a beat or a distorted voice, but that is just part of the band's sound. If David Grohl doesn't like it, I couldn't care less. spike91232004
So what they use backing tracks for some songs? Like other people have said I would rather use technology too sound good rather than crappy. So yeah I don't care.
