PALM BAY, Fla. -- A 9-month-old baby boy was improving Thursday after police
said he was severely beaten by his mother's boyfriend.

Jason Welch was charged last week with aggravated child abuse.

Palm Bay police said Thursday the baby is expected to survive.

Investigators said the mother left the boy with Welch while she went to
work.

An 8 year old girl, giving two of her best friends a hug before departing
school for the weekend was sentenced to two days of detention, one day for
each hug. Public schools have zero tolerance regarding students expressing
signs of affection in the school.

the ultimate evil. He is the leader behind the terrorist activities. The
voice which guides the followers. Yet even he should be forgiven. Not
because of what he does, but because all people are a product of society. In

Because of that, he too deserves to be forgiven.

14 killed in Iraq market blast

bAGHDAD . A car bomb exploded in a busy market in central Baghdad yesterday,
killing at least 14 people and wounding 66, medics in the capital's two
hospitals said.

The attack occurred at around 1pm in the Iraqi capital's Bab Al-Sharji
market which is popular for trading food and clothes, security officials
said.

Medics in Baghdad's Al-Kindi and Ibn Nafis hospitals confirmed the toll.

Security forces sealed off the area after the bombing. The area is close to
the interior ministry and houses one of Baghdad's main bus stations.

The Bab Al-Sharji market has been a regular target of insurgents, and on
Friday it was packed with shoppers on their way home after weekly prayers.

Insurgents have attacked markets across Iraq, particularly in Baghdad, in a
bid to inflict maximum casualties.

Last month two bombs hidden in cardboard boxes used to carry animals
exploded in the city's Al-Ghazal pet market, killing 13 people.

But in the past few months the number of insurgent attacks, especially
bombings, has dropped significantly across the country on the back of a
