We have some intelligent Linkin Park fans here. So what are your thoughts? Do you think they have it in them?

Come on guys..........I know people are seeing this thread. Why don't ya at least say something about it? Good or bad. I even nicely posted mp3s. Now how many people do that?

What if I was to say this is Chester Bennington's side project?

;)

Ok, I downloaded the songs and I must say I am impressed. I really like their sound, and I'm not saying that just to be nice because I hate people who do that. The odd part of their music is that there are no lyrics, and songs like this annoy me, but in this case I don't mind it at all because the drumming and the guitar riffs make up for it. I could find myself listening to these guys when I'm in need of inspiration or just when I want to sick back and relax while posting on forums. Their music is powerful, creative and it just sounds good.

But I don't think their music will reach mainstream status like LP's music has, simply because today's radio stations don't want to play 5 minute instrumental rock songs with no lyrics, even if it is good.

BTW, I added the songs you posted to my daily music playlist

These are really good instrumentals. The melody and execution are great. We can feel the music and try to de-code what it means just by the flow of the sound. I agree with Suicide King though, the fact that it has no lyrics, being instrumentals only, will probably keep this band from going mainstream (at least on such a huge level like LP...), but it's definitely a band with a good sound and talent. Thanks for introducing 65 days of Static

Well, it's definitely not chill out music. And the whole no lyrics complaint everybody has: what can I say? About 40% of the music I listen to is instrumental music with some songs being as long as 40 minutes. A good way to put it is, sometimes you don't need lyrics to make you feel something, think of something, or be inspired. The music will move you in its own way. That's how you feel their collective energy. The message is in their music.

Thanx to Suicide King and shirakawa_otori because if they didn't check this out, nobody else would have. And thanx for everybody's comments. This band really isn't high on my favourites, but they are raising a fuss with people in the underground. People really just love their energy and passion. They are a pretty good young band and that's about it for that.

Usurp means to take over. Take their glory. The limelight.

And it was used as a joke in the title of this thread. This band will probably never be mainstream because they have no lyrics and they use a little to much feedback noise and electronics.

i agree, you don't always need lyrics. that's why i like to listen to instrumentals of songs. instrument players get far too little credit, except for maybe guitarists

There are reasons why certain bands forgo lyrics. Well, I'm mean the music world is sad as it is. It would be more so if every band had to have lyrics and had to have this and had to have that. I don't need lyrics to know how somebody I hardly know feels. It's how I feel. Lyrics are not essential for great music.

Perhaps they don't care if they are mainstream. I would take musical freedom and integrity, a decent living, and travel over a shitload of cash and compromise. That's probably what will end up happening to me since I make 10 minute instrumentals (give or take on average). And that's what's happening for all the instrumental bands I listen to. And there are a lot.
