Win 7 boot with LONG hang time

I have a new install of Win 7-64 Pro. It runs perfectly fine after the boot but the boot process has a hang issue. I have reformatted the drive, checked for all types of errors and re-installed (clean) the OS several times with the same result. The hang is right after the Windows logo graphic appears. The logo freezes for 10-11 minutes. After which, it resumes with the usual logging in then desktop. During the hang period, the HD light does flash once every .8 seconds.
System components are-
Gigabyte GIGABYTE GA-G41MT-USB3 with Intel Q9550 CPU
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM SATA
Windows 7 is up to date as is the MOBO firmware.
Where should I go to next?
