Windows 7 - Home folder maps to root and not user's folder

Hey all,
It seems our new Windows 7 machines on a Win 2k8 R2 domain keep mapping any user that logs on's home folder to say \\server\\share instead of \\server\share\username.
Redirection oddly works and is in the correct spots its just a pain becasue user have to click on the drive, in our case U:\ then find their username folder.
This seems to work fine in XP. I've seen tons of posts about this being and XP only issue and to change GPO's that allow syncronous logon and wait for network upon boot, both of which I have done to no avail.
Has anyone out there had this happen to Windows 7 machines? Oddly Windows XP machines seem perfectly fine.
Thanks for your help,
Xavier
