I have a Windows 7 Enterprise box set as our KMS. When I bring a syspreped Windows 7 Professional box up – it adds to the count, but when I bring a syspreped box up with Enterprise it only does the request, no count. The only reason I tested a Professional was to see if It was going to give me the same result as the Enterprise. In order for a windows 7 box to activate with KMS it needs to hit a 25 count, yet I can’t increase the count when I sysprep Enterprise.
In the answer file I have it to not skip activation, I also do a slmgr /ato to force the activation on all enterprise systems. In the Event log for the KMS I see all the times the Enterprise box “requests” the KMS, but when I do a slmgr /dlv on the KMS box the count is still the same. I do get a message box when I slmgr /ato a enterprise box – Error: 0xC004F038
