I am building an image to deploy Windows 7 Enterprise Edition to our computers. I have built the image on an HP DC 5700 Small Form Factor computer. The installation goes fine. I am able to customize the user environment for the administrative user I created during install. I use ImageX to capture an image of the machine before running sysprep. I can load that image back onto the computer with no problem.

The problem occurs when I run Sysprep. If I run Sysprep on the computer, I get the following error during the post Sysprep start up: "Windows setup could not configure windows to run on this computer's hardware." I have tried several things to solve this and searched the forums for answers with no success.

In the simplest form I have the image on the machine, working. I run Sysprep with no answer file and select the options from the GUI: OOBE mode, reseal and reboot. After rebooting I get the error. I get the error if I use a sysprep.xml file also.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
