Windows 7 Pro backup restore not working

Hello. I've had a nasty disk failure where my 6 month old SSD just died on me. Fortunately the backups seem to have been running as they should. Unfortunately I fail to recover my files from the backup. I've got the system image back, but the failure comes when attempting to recover my files.
I'm running a Swedish Win 7 Pro, so please excuse me if I get my translations wrong.
What happens is that I get a "Can not find the path. (0x80070003)" ("Det går inte att hitta sökvägen. (0x80070003)").
I've followed the instructions on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973455 and the workarounds, but it just renders the same result. When in the backup manager, I can browse the folders and see the files I want restored, but Windows fails to restore them, with the error message above. No change if I try to restore to a custom path.
When I look at the manage space for backups, I see two entries.
2011-11-07 to 2012-01-12 61.75 GB
2012-01-12 to 2012-01-16 3.71 GB
Also, when I browse in to the backup directory, I can see the backup sets and the backup zips and when looking in to the zips, they seem intact too.
What should I do?
Thanks in advance!
