Guest NewsBot
My laptop stopped working recently when I had to finish a project, so after a visit to a repair people (off-warranty, told me motherboard burned out) I promptly bought another machine. In my country (Latvia) it's almost impossible to buy pre-installed windows OS, so they just sell OEM box together with the computer. On my old machine I had Windows 7 OEM 32-bit, bought together with a laptop. The technician had refused to give me back the sticker with the key, saying he'll sell it to someone else! My questions are: 1) If in this case license key can be re-used for another computer (being OEM and all), I'd like to recover it to use on my old desktop that is running XP now (I've bought another version of Win7 for my new laptop) 2) Regardless of the answer to 1, how can I block my key so that can't sell it? I have purchase documents complete with receipt, box, installation disc - everything except the sticker. I've bought my Windows OEM in retail store, so there is no e-mail containing the key. I have a hard drive from that computer though, with Windows still installed. Best regards, Pavels P.S. Who had the bright idea of writing activation key on the case of computer - in our country it gets stolen the moment someone sees it.
