Windows will not recognise wireless adapter drivers

I have a Compaq nx9010 laptop runnings XPsp3. I have tried to install drivers for a Belkin F5D8011 wireless notebook card.

I have downloaded the correct driver into the downloads folder, but when I point the Update Driver Wizard to the folder I get a message telling me there are not any driver files in the folder. Belkin have not been very helpful, they just gave me a link to the

driver.

Does this mean the driver is not suitable for XP, even though Belkin says it is? Is is possible to install the driver without using the Wizard? Is there something wrong with (newly installed) XP?
