Alright, I grew up in Indianapolis where rap is basically all we listen to and maybe I'm just missing something... or do a bunch of vocalists of bands make really retarded sounds. Like the beginning of 'Down with the Sickness' by 'Disturbed' he goes like 'ooohhhwaaakakakaka!' then makes a sound he's either choking or having a verrrrrrrry rough ******. I just mean how do bands think of this stuff? Just sitting around "hey lets go ooohhhwaaakakakaka in a song!" I think 'Freak on a Leash' by 'Korn' does something too.

Sorry, but i have to dissagree with you because i like Disturbed, they are great. They have a sound of thier own, and i don't like them being called "Retarded" since i bet they think some of the stuff you listen to is retarded. So, if you would, please don't say things sound Retarded or stupid or ect ect ect. This really ****** me off, so thanks.

and on another note. the OOOOwhahaha is like David Draiman's signature piece. He is well known for being able to do that and many other things with his voice. It takes alot of work making your voice change so dramaticly in such a short period of time. It took me months to be able to sing like him(and it was harder since i'm a girl).

I love that kinda voices...they are somethin special and not just anybody can make them...

As for the Korn...Jonathan has a pretty original voice and can sing some awesome and often incomprehensible parts...the perfect example is "Twist"...

Well I don't really listen to Disturbed or KoRn. They're both equally medicore bands with Disturbed being the better of the two. I'd say if you're looking for those type of vocals Death Metal and Black Metal is the way to go.

Vocalists are trying to break new ground and find new ways to express themselves all the time.

Some of it is corny and lame...like Disturbed and most mediocre poser metal.

Some of it is pure brilliance...like Modest Mouse and Muse.

But hey, thats just me throwing some words out onto the internet at 2:30am...so I dunno. Take or leave it.

I just think it's something unique if some bands do this kinda sound...it can be funny sometimes...but it's just another way to express yourself....and maybe they can relieve something through that...so I think it's alright...and if you don't like it...just listen to other stuff...
