(Reuters) - Japanese right-hander Masahiro Tanaka had surgery on Tuesday to remove a bone spur in his pitching elbow and is expected to be ready for the 2016 Major League Baseball season, the New York Yankees said. The bone spur was pre-existing and dated back to Tanaka's stellar pitching career in his native Japan, according to the Yankees. "Typical recovery time includes six weeks of exercise and strengthening, followed by a throwing program," the Yankees said in a statement.
