Sure they do.

You really did not expect to be able to answer those questions did you?

I mean he wanders over to a martial arts news group and calls everyone a

freak. I would love to see him wander into some dojos I have been in and do

the same. At best he would be asked to leave. At worst he would be tossed

out the door headfirst. I suspect he would hang around long enough to

experience the latter.

Well Saddam was elected with 100 % of the vote and now look at Putin back in

like Flynn. Tell me the KGB does not control Russia.

LOL! You know, it really ought not surpise me that you resorted to

this... just didn't expect to see it so early. Tell me something -

what does anything we were discussing so far have to do with Iraq?

Let's see... gun rights, the potential mortgage bailouts, socialism

in general... I just don't see anything about Iraq in there. If you

can explain why you chose to pull Iraq out of your ass then by all

means do so - hell, I welcome the entertainment. But frankly both you

and I know that the only wise option you have is to slink away

quietly... because you and I both know that you blurted "Iraq"

automatically because you couldn't think of anything better to say.

Pretty lame.

How can you expect to be taken seriously if the only thing you can

respond with is knee-jerk, bumper-sticker reponses that aren't even

related to what is being talked about?

Note that you start off with the premise of being defended by someone

else. That is the root of your problem, son. I realize you think

you're just being a smart-ass, but deep down, you really DO believe

that "someone" needs to keep you safe, and you've put your faith in

the government being that someone. Trouble is, the government can't

do it; never has had that power, never will.

To protect ourselves and our loved ones against whatever happens to

threaten them; far more likely to be crime than "terror" of any kind,

but in the end it really doesn't matter. Most of us who train will

hopefully never need it; but better to have it and never need it than

need it and never have it.

You cannot be this insane. You honestly believe that the gov't

If you like socialism, you must love George Bush...the biggest spender

Saddam had elections, too, and routinely won 100% of the vote. Do you

actually believe those elections meant anything?

Anyone can hold referenda - whether or not they follow the results is

the question. Be interesting to see what he does when it's time to

actually step down.

Let me see. I've never really dealt with this many gun-freak loons at

once. No brains. Just a fetish for guns. Do you sleep with them?

Do you have sex with them? Does seeing a Magnum 45 make you go weak

in the knees?

Do you think a gun will protect you against plastic explosives? Do

you think a gun will protect you against nuclear weapons? Are you

looking forward to the day when civilization collapses, and you can

shoot anyone you want, anytime you want? Are you trying to bring that

time about?

Bert, what's there to like about guns, exactly? They're a means of

killing people. They have no other function.

Now, now, Mark. Let's not decry your "jewish heritage". Marx was a

fine philosopher and a good man. And Communism is really just applied

Judaism, when properly understood. And the Chinese have done quite

well with Marxism, thankyou very much.

Well, I suppose guns can be used as a means of coercion, based on the

threat of killing. That seems to be the essential attraction of them

to the gun lobby. They aren't really a means of obtaining food

anymore, for the vast majority of the population, the vast majority of

the time.

Actually, I think the appeal of guns is essentially fascist. "Hey

I've got a gun!!! You can't mess with me!!!" Sounds pretty Freudian

to me. Like they're missing something somewhere else!

This person you characterize as a "right wing loon" has actually talked

to people (literally, face to face) with people who were there and knew

_exactly_ how those "referendums" in the former Soviet Union and other

Warsaw Pact nations were handled--who had actually voted in some of them.

What's your experience? What's your evidence?

Do you actually have any or is your argument style just to take

contentless pot-shots at people who disagree with you? You do know what the

fallacy of an "argument ad hominem" is, don't you?

Your implication, via the "how many" question, that dictators don't hold

referendums stands refuted by example.

Judging from your inability to string together more than three words

in sequence with correct english syntax, I'm a bit skeptical regarding

your ability to grasp the issues involved. I'm assuming, simply from

the name you use, that you are in fact a native english speaker.

Otherwise, I would have assumed you were actually from one of the

former Soviet Republics, and had had limited educational opportunities

there.

Yeah, I can imagine how dealing with TWO WHOLE PEOPLE might be

overwealming for someone in your condition. Please, take your time -

with SO MANY of us ganging up on you I can understand how you might be

feeling a little flustered :b

> Just a fetish for guns. Do you sleep with them?

> Do you have sex with them?

No... can't say that I have... in fact the only folks I ever hear

suggesting such things are folks such as yourself. You may want to

consider seeing someone professionally about this - might be some

deep, unresolved issues lurking.

> Does seeing a Magnum 45 make you go weak in the knees?

Depends on which end I'm standing on I suppose.

> Do you think a gun will protect you against plastic explosives?

That would depend of course on when I saw the guy with the plastic

explosives...

Obviously a gun isn't going to offer protection from everything; but

neither does it need to. There are more than enough perfectly

legitimate things that it can protect against.

I do know for an absolute fact that it will protect me from someone

trying to break into my home late at night. I also know that it will

protect me from some asshole trying to rob me in a parking lot.

> Do you think a gun will protect you against nuclear weapons?

Nope. Nor will it protect me against earthquakes, tornadoes, floods,

or giant meteors. Is this the best you can do? Pick the biggest and

dumbest exaggeration that you can think of and smugly declare that it

proves something about your argument?

Or - and I really hate to even think this - are you actually stupid

enough to believe that what you said above was somehow clever?

> Are you looking forward to the day when civilization collapses, and you can

> shoot anyone you want, anytime you want? Are you trying to bring that time about?

I guess we know the answer now.
