Are the hippies ever gonna give this one a rest?

Like, cred for stealing an ideology off another sect,

but it's nothing new, hippy.

And how do you know you'll like the new me?

I might become a more complete arsehole. ;)

As if that is humanly possible.

I think there was an episode of Law and Order about this once. Except they didn't use water, it was a blanket and they smothered the kid to death by accident.

Anyhow, it's just another part of that garbage new age sensitivity shit that does nothing except further traumatize the poor kids and take hard earned money away from the idiots with the 'misunderstood' child when all they needed to do was give the kid a few ass whoopings to keep him in line.

I saw that episode and it was based in part on a real death...as Law and Order often does.

I think if your having problems with your child, you should seek PROFESSIONAL help, not someone like this...remember the episode where someone wanted their child exorcised, they thought the child was posessed of the devil and the well meaning Nun killed the child accidently? I prefer well established treatment done by licensed professionals, of course closely monitered by myself.

I am a pathetic piece of shit leeching single mom.

The real death that it was based on occurred here in Denver, CO. It was sad because the lady performing the treatment was not a licensed therapist.

Oh well, life goes on. On a side note, Law & Order: SVU did a paralell episode on a crime that occured because of exposure to a violent game (Grand Theft Auto); It was ok, but definately not the best episode I have ever seen.

I'm not having a tantrum...I'm not...I'm not...I'm not...I'm going to sue your ass...whawwwwwwww.

Iran's useless government will disarm or be destroyed. As a matter of personal preference; I prefer the latter.

It depends on who you ask, but what you describe is not rebirth. The closest thing I believe in is reincarnation (I'm Pagan).

Hugo, you call everyone a dumbass who doesn't agree with you. And reincarnation was believed for quite a while, and I believe it still is. So who's the idiot? He's following something that's been around for awhile. At least he has a religion.

Peganism has many respectable qualitites about it, more so than most religions. Pegans themselves though tend to be, as Hugo so kindly remarked; Dumbasses.

Such is my experience anyhow, too many twits who get attracted to the commonly understood opposite pole of the main force of spirtuality imposed on them by New World culture.

Vikings are the only hardcore Pegans.

Rebirth and reincarnation are not the same thing. Rebirth is some new stupid idea of dealing with suppressed trama caused by being born. It is a form of concentrated breathing, and in some cases, the person simulates the struggles of being born.

“[R]ebirthing (circular breathing, conscious breathing, conscious-connected breathing, free breathing, vivation): A form of bodywork that uses hyperventilation. Leonard Orr developed rebirthing in the 1970s. Its purported goal is to resolve repressed attitudes and emotions that supposedly originated with prenatal and perinatal experiences. Practitioners, called "rebirthers," encourage patients to reenact the birth process.”

No, it's not. True paegans are not stupid beings, and they tend to worship forces of nature, which has been abandoned by most people. See how fucked up the earth is now? THAT'S RIGHT, HUGO, ALL YOUR FAULT! :p

Hmmmmm, seems I need to elaborate on my slant on the "rebirthing" process.

Akin to deep meditation, the practitioners (usually two) gently float the subject in body-temp water, encouraging deep regular breathing, chanting inwardly, any method to encourage a deeper trance-like state, so the subconcious mind can regress to that time when you were born.

Flotation tanks, filled with super-saline water, negating the need for support, were all the rage in the eighties (the Simpsons covered these).

What irks me is, if you are not familiar with deep meditation techniques, how the fuck is having two relative strangers holding you afloat in tepid water gonna help you achieve this "blissful" state?

What if the doc that birthed you had to use forceps to grab your head, and use force to remove you from your momma? What if you were a c/section birth, and you weren't quite ready to come out yet?

What if your poor momma was in labour for three days, and you were fighting to get out?

Who would want to remember any of this?
