hobotastic_x Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 anyone remember about 4 years ago or so when that columbia space shuttle crashed? was all over the news obviously and people died. terrible tragedy i know, but did anyone know that seven school children were killed in an avalanche the same day in canada and that didn't even get mentioned on the news? i knew of it because one of my friends was in the accident, but does anyone else think this is wrong? shouldn't both stories have been covered on the news? i would think this even if it wasn't my friend because i believe it was important. opinions please? x Quote
snafu Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I’m sorry you lost a friend but who the fuck cares? I’m sure there were more accidents, casualties and other stuff that could’ve been reported. And I’m sure a lot were. They just didn’t make the front page. The Columbia incident will make the history books. I’m not sure that one avalanche will be that big of an issue in later days. Do you think the avalanches here in Alaska were I live should be reported before something like the Columbia? Didn’t think so. 1 Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. That's just insane!" Penn & Teller NEVER FORGOTTEN
phreakwars Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 I had a horrible case of the shits that day. I never got any extra sympathy.. Why would I give a fuck about someone who got their ass blown up in a space shuttle ?? They died knowing they actually got to ride the fucking thing. My greatest memory is knowing I fucked this ugly chick named Jenny once... I am not going to mourn for people that do nothing for my own personal life. Therefore, I don't give a fuck who died on that day and by what means. If I did, then I would probably only recognise people like Elvis Presley, who died while taking a shit, which brings about a bigger fear in me when I get the runs.. Sorry, I don't complicate my world with such matters. . . 1 Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
Hamza123 Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Remember the news media, is still media. They wan't to show you whats eye candy. If they were out there just to inform you of the news they'd find the cheapest method possible. Quote Taking it up the poopchute from Allah since 1990.
daddybear41 Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Tuned In: Couric to emphasize context when she anchors CBS news Monday, July 17, 2006 By Rob Owen, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (snip): "Couric recently embarked on a listening tour to select cities around the country, surveying how people get their news and trying to learn what the nightly national newscasts are not offering that she can incorporate into the "CBS Evening News." (snip): "Couric said she's excited to stop talking about anchoring the "CBS Evening News" and start doing the job. She hopes to offer a newscast that better explains the ramifications of what's happening in the world, including the history behind current events." (snip): "I think sometimes we assume people know more than they do about history and historical context," she said. "I think some Americans hear 'Hamas' and 'Hezbollah,' and it might as well be Greek to them. We need to do a better job of explaining things better, of distilling them better." (snip): "Interim "Evening News" anchor Bob Schieffer will continue to have a "regular and prominent" role in the newscast, contributing from Washington. Schieffer may or may not offer a commentary." http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06198/706375-237.stm Needless to say ... I WILL NOT BE WATCHING CBS NIGHTLY NEWS once Katie Couric takes her seat in the anchor's chair. Its a bloody shame that perkiness has replaced street creds when filling a position with as much gravitas as anchoring a major nightly news program. CBS Nightly News will become just another Faux news competitor shilling for the misadministration and the Repuke party. Quote

ImWithStupid Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 You are truly an idiot. Couric is a liberal. You'd think he would have known that. Since he is supposedly a former editor of a newspaper. No wonder the news sucks and is wrong all the time with morons deciding what gets printed. Quote

RoyalOrleans Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Despite the tragedy, I could give a two-penny ass fuck about NASA. Why do the shitheels in Yankton insist on dumping money into a failed endeavor? If the Federalies want to dump money into the space program, then they should dump money into stem cell research.
