timesjoke Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 and when the money is gone, and the bread and circus have run out, it will be most unfortunate that our economic divisions so closely mimic our racial ones, because this country will descend into a race war... our Final Civil War... Well, if things are getting that bad we will see it comming. I agree with your assessment that LA will be the first to go and other towns will follow suit. I have land and assets that are not American so if things get that bad, I will take care of mine and dissapear. I can see it happening if it gets as bad as your saying about a total disruption of paychecks and stuff but I do not see these sheep taking action for anything less than that kind of total breakdown of society and government. And yes, Canada needs America strong to continue, we buy almost all of their exported oil for example and we even buy electricity for most of the north east corner of America from Canada. If we go, they go. Quote
phreakwars Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 You cannot have an uprising without a common belief structure. If people cannot agree with what is wrong, then they cannot gather together to fight that wrong. That's why we have Democrats & Republicans. It's easier to get 2 sides to fight over something they disagree on then to get them to fight something they can agree on. Last time there was any unification was after the 9/11 attacks. Once people figured out the US used the attacks as a stepping stone to "LIBERATE", not fight terrorism, the division started all over again, and the sheeple comply. . . ImWithStupid Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Am I REALLY the only person on this forum that thinks the US is doomed to fight another civil war? Maybe. I could see a catastrophic event causing a Mad Max type situation before an actual civil war happening. Quote
snafu Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 If it came down to a civil war I would think other countries would take advantage of the situation and attack us. timesjoke Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Like it or not, we are in a world economy and any large Country going down will throw everyone into a mess from one degree to another. Our stock market dropping had severe effects all over the world. We are importing massive amounts of goods that we no longer produce. That depresses our economy but it props up other economies. Once that flow is suddenly stopped, well it will not be pretty. Maybe that is the end of the world predicted in the Bible. Maybe we will all collapse and the last world war will be set off and all the nukes will finally be unleashed causing the destruction of man. Quote

ImWithStupid Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I am now quite certain that Nancy Pelosi is either completely delusional, in complete denial, or thinks that the American people are downright stupid... Pelosi: Dems bear no responsibility for economic crisis By Klaus Marre Posted: 09/16/08 04:14 PM [ET] House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, when asked Tuesday whether Democrats bear some of the responsibility regarding the current crisis on Wall Street, had a one-word answer: “No.” Pelosi (D-Calif.) ripped President Bush’s “mismanagement” of the economy and a lack of regulation that led to the current situation. “I think the American people have had it with this situation where the middle-income people in our country are not protected from the ramifications of the risk-taking and the greed of these financial institutions,” Pelosi told MSNBC. When asked whether the Democrats “deserve some responsibility” regarding the economic crisis, Pelosi responded: “No.” “John McCain said that this is a result of overregulation by the Democrats in Congress,” she added. “Either he doesn’t know what he's talking about or he’s misrepresenting the facts as he knows them. But it’s simply not true.” Republicans responded quickly, pointing out that a Congress led by Democrats had not helped the economy. “The Pelosi-Obama Congress has failed to pass an all-of-the-above energy plan, failed to stop earmarks, and failed to break the partisan gridlock that plagues Washington,” RNC spokesman Alex Conant said. “If Pelosi thinks the Democratic Congress is doing a good job handling the economy now, then just imagine how bad our economy would be if Democrats controlled the White House, too.” TheHill.com Quote
Old Salt Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I am now quite certain that Nancy Pelosi is either completely delusional, in complete denial, or thinks that the American people are downright stupid... TheHill.comI'll go with choice number three. It was a difficult decision because there are elements of the first two included. Guess it was more like an "all of the above" choice. Quote
