hugo Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 Yeah.. Pretty sure the cops wouldn't have appreciated 4 corpses when they got here.. See, here in Minnesota we value human life a bit more than a handful of cd's and some pocket change .... and Al Franken is just the man to prove it.. In Texas we vale innocent human life, two individuals were killed by home invaders last week in Pasadena. That did not make the news because it was the innocent homeowners killed. That did not make the news because it was the innocent homeowners killed. I'm not doubting you but could you post a news article about this. It's horrible if it happened. Thing is though, in any state these people could have defended themselves, as it was their home, and their safety at risk. Quote

What about the pencil necks sitting behind desks robbing people of 100's of millions of dollars electronically? So the people of Iraq must be "innocent homeowners" too.. Making us all scumbags.. If anyone tries to tell me we would have home invaded them had they sat on nothing but sand, I'd suggest some psychotropic medication and a history class.. Where's the line? Quote

What about a real estate agent who got a false home appraisal and doubled someones income to obtain a loan based on fraud? Firing squad? What about the big banks making these loans knowing full well they would never get paid back but not caring because they bundle em up into "investments" and sell them to suckers? Old sparky? Pretty sure there's no consequences for them.. Matter of fact, they get bailed out to boot by the worlds greatest free market system.. I should just start a school teaching two bit criminals who steal lawn ornaments how to be "respectable businessmen" and rake in the big bucks, not only risk free, but with a government safety net to boot.... Can't lose. Think I'll apply for a grant to get it up and running.. So the people of Iraq must be "innocent homeowners" too.. Making us all scumbags.. Chi Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 For myself, I can only say that I am happy that these two turds are dead. My only concern is for the old man. Unless they threatened his life prior to him opening fire, he may be looking at time in jail. Its hard to tell from the audio if this happened or not. I'm guessing it did. Burglars normally commit the crime armed, to avoid arrest. LiveLeak.com - News Coverage To Pasadena Burglar Shooting. I find the crazy guy who shot the two thieves scarier than the burglars. He's a murderer without a just enough cause in my eyes. From the audio I heard on the radio this morning, it sounded like he couldn't wait to kill those two. Yet he claims he was scared... Scared my ass! A scared person pleads with the 911 operator to have the police hurry up, get there and help him. A scared person doesn't sound y and like he thinks he's invincible because he has a shot gun that he can't wait to use. It wasn't even his house or property, and his life never seemed to be threatened, like he claims. He should've waited for the police to get there, like they told him over and over again. I can't say he killed some innocent, model citizens, they took the stupid risk that they took and lost their lives. He took the stupid risk of possibly facing jail time (he dodged that bullet), but you never know, someone might try to go after him now for the very stupid, extreme decision that he made by unnecessarily killing those two. 1 Quote

wez Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 That's what police are for.. Personally, I'd rather live near a couple petty thieves than a powderkeg like Zero Joe... Quote

Guest sheik-yerbouti Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 All too often a burglar goes on to become a rapist or murderer. Once these jerks were just strung up on discovery. But now the liberals are running the world, giving them short sentences, and turning them lose, so they can visit some more mayhem upon the citizenry. Its good to read that some people are doing something about it, and &%?$ the liberals Quote

Guest sheik-yerbouti Posted July 5, 2008 Posted July 5, 2008 He should've waited for the police to get there, like they told him over and over again. . I'm no expert on US law. My understanding is that he has a right to defend himself and his property. He also has a right to defend anyone else and their property. He told them "move and you are dead" The meaning is very certain. It means try to escape and I will kill you. It also means- this is a citizens arrest. They chose to attempt to flee. Joe Horn had a right to shoot at fleeing felons just as the police do. It as also the only way to stop them escaping with the stolen property. He was right to shoot them on both counts. That is my opinion. I am relieved that their criminal careers are now ended. It was only a matter of time bfore they raped or killed someone. Quote

In Texas you do have the right to use the force needed to prevent theft of your neighbors' property. No. Law enforcement hasn't had the right to fire on fleeing felons since the early 70's. Citizens in Texas can pretty much exterminate anyone they want. They just have to say the person was either stealing or damaging their own or someone elses property. It's 1885 in Texas. Yahoo! They just have to say the person was either stealing or damaging their own or someone elses property. Since the Joe Horn case got so much attention it can be safe to assume that the instances of Texans killing, even justifiably, in the defense of a neighbor's property is quite rare. I have heard of no case where a innocent was shot down and it was claimed he was mistaken for a burglar fleeing with stolen property. It is a damn shame law enforcement cannot fire on fleeing felons. Crims know that citizens are not armed. They also know that as young men they can easilly outrun the police, who will not usually open fire. So really then, fleeing is the best option for a felon. He knows he wont be fired at, as no real attempt will be made to seize him and the stolen goods. Quote
Chi Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Hero Joe can live next to me anytime he wants. I'd love a neighborhood where neighbors look after each other like that. I agree with the 2nd statement, no doubt about it. I'm nosey and call the police whenever I feel the need to. I don't see anything wrong with that, quite the opposite. Having said that, I would prefer to come home to some missing things and a mess than coming home with my kids to find dead bodies, blood, body and brain chunks and an even bigger, gory and traumatizing mess. If it's a life threatening situation, then yes, by all means, shoot away Mr. Yosemite Sam. And who knows, maybe those losers could have killed the home owners when they got home, who knows! I'm not mourning those two, I'm just saying it was a bit extreme and didn't seem necessary. The guy who killed them sounded like he was up for it just a little too much... Quote
