Well, first of all, eight days before this attack, there was a breakin at his home and the person even put a knife on a bed so obviously he should have been very cautious at that point.

When they heard noises last night, Tayler grabbed a machete just before the attacker broke in and fired two shots, one hitting Tayler.

To me, I believe he must have been involved in something because why would he not have taken precautions after the first break in and obvious threat with the knife being put on his bed?

It is a shame to see someone get killed like this but why only attack him? Why not kill the girlfriend also? This stinks big time.

No kidding.. I have a feeling it was someone he knew. Perhaps a jealous "friend" from his past.

What I heard, and it is still early on, was that the shot were fired through a door, so the intent may not have been to kill Taylor. Being shot in the leg also points to murder not being the motive.

Either way, this is very sad. 24 years old is to young to go.

I didn't look too deep.. but it said 2 shots were fired in the bedroom, one hitting Taylor. A thief doesn't do that. I think someone intended to kill him.

I'll bet if he had a gun, he could have shot them before they shot him... Either way, i hope they catch the creep and kill them.

Sharpstein said Taylor's girlfriend told him the couple was awakened by loud noises, and Taylor grabbed a machete he keeps in the bedroom for protection. Someone then broke through the bedroom door and fired two shots, one missing and one hitting Taylor, Sharpstein said. Taylor's 1-year-old daughter, Jackie, was also in the house, but neither she nor Taylor's girlfriend was injured.

This is just a news report but even without this early report I must agree with Wez (world comming to an end?) on this one, a person there to steal does not just start shooting bullets into a bedroom for no reason. Getting busted for stealing and getting busted for murder is a huge difference, why take it to that level without a good reason?

No, I must say this sounds very fishy.

But yes, it is horrible to see someone so young and full of talent go out like this, it makes me sad.

Perhaps even someone he may have bullied in his past who became so enraged at his success they became consumed with revenge. Hard to say for sure. But I just have this feeling it wasn't a stranger. I hope they have some leads as to who it might be. Way to young to die.

All of the interviews I've heard said that he was turning his life around since the birth of his child. It's a good possibility that one of his ex-associates didn't want that to happen so decided to do something about it. Getting shot in an extremity isn't usually life-threatening so, was this a warning? The shooter got unlucky in one way and lucky in another (IMO) - Taylor should have had a gun instead of a machete. Even after getting shot, he could have got whoever did it. I don't think that this was one of your run-of-the-mill break-ins either.

Was Taylor a known bully or are you just making stuff up?

Just speculating.. I said, "hard to say for sure". Seems a lot of kids feel driven to shoot up schools over bullying. Only the shooter knows their motives.

Like you have to ask, of course he is making stuff up, that is all he ever does.

He has some kind of fixation on a bully mentality so either he was a bully before and is over compensating for it (like an ex-smoker does) or he was bullied himself and still is living life as a victim.

I vote the latter.

I've bullied, and have been bullied. No more will I play that game. I don't need to validate my beliefs through other people. I learned that lesson before I was 16. I allowed myself to be bullied by my ex girlfriend for 18 years. She taught me a lot. I have nothing but love for her.

You don't bring a machete to a gunfight. The fact is 150 to 200 blacks are murdered everyday. Mostly by other blacks. And all you here complaining about is some white kids noose prank from the so-called black leaders.

I would have to agree, if you don't have a gun to protect yourself these days, you are on your knees asking to be a victim.

This man's child must now grow up without a father, a thing linked to massive increases of problems in life and all avoidable if he could have defended himself against the attacker.

Apparently he was shot in the leg.. must have hit a major artery to die from a wound to an extremity. Must have bled a ton before they got there to help.

I also saw last night that the break in the week before, the perp left a kitchen knife on his pillow. It had to be someone he knew. I think he/she was trying to leave him a message. What a nightmare. His poor wife and child. I hope they catch em.

Speaking of machete's. I get an automated call at work from the school district telling me there's been a school lock down while trying to locate a suspect. Freaked the out of me!

Just goes to show you how valuable having a gun is.

Ironic, isn't it? One of the best defenders in the NFL and yet he can't defend his own home.

The femoral artery can bleed you out in less than 5 minutes. People have been stabbed in the leg and died from this. Even broken their femur in a car crash and died from the bone severing the artery.

i am sofa king we todd did.

The femoral artery and the lungs (under the arm) are two of the places inmates aim for to kill people in prison, fast.

I wonder if he had any previous charges where he couldn't own a gun... Sounds like he had a troubled past and I saw he had been in trouble for pointing a gun in someones face.

True about the femoral.. under the arm must be the subclavian. Both large. I remember Napolean McCallum for the Raiders in a Monday night game years ago went over his leg the wrong way as it was braced up by other players. He damn near bled out on the field. That replay still gives me the chills..

I know that the subclavian is under the collar bone. Not sure if it's under the arm too.

I remember when a guy got stabbed at a local meat packing plant and it cut his subclavian. Shortly after, I was working out at the gym and a local doctor was there. He said you bleed out so fast from that, it's likely you couldn't be saved if it happened in a hospital O.R. with the surgeon standing there.

It does run right into the arm and becomes the axillary artery at the armpit. It's the major artery for the arms. I take it the meat cutter didn't make it?
