Moral difference between murder and killing.

Murder, completely amoral. Premeditated, hate/rage induced, needless, ending/destroying of life. (i.e. Abortion, gang violence, drug violence, murders by criminals)

Killing, the polar opposite of murder. Done out of necessity or for the protection of something greater than oneself. (i.e. Casualties of war, self defense, protection of our laws and beliefs and the American way of life)

Sorry, I don't see the lines quite so clear.. If one needs to kill to protect a way of life, it is the wrong way of life..

Not if you're defending yourself against people that are jealous of your way of life and in turn trying to figure ways to kill you and take that way of life from you. Not at all.

Hey, "Non-believers" I've just got one thing to say to ya... If you're right, then what difference does it make, it wont matter when we're dead anyway... But if I'm right... Well, hey... Ya better be right...

Hey... If the shoe fits. I'm not attacking his wife, but you bring up an excellent point. I did, by proxy, call his wife a murder, and if I can say that I honestly believe my own mother is a murder, I'll not hold back on anyone in the world. Sorry snaf... that's just how it be's.

No I totally agree. I just can't bring myself to hate or condemn someone for the wrong decisions they've done.

Broman, our country is not the victim of anyone.. never have been. We have victimized many. As far as I know, we've been attacked by Japan, Timmy terrorist McVie, some arabs in the early 90's on the WTC, 16 Saudis and 3 who knows on 9/11.. We aren't superheros stopping evil in the world.. we've done a lot of evil ourselves my friend. As far as I'm concerned, we're all equally guilty.

I think that's where I went awry earlier. I didn't mean to condemn anyone. I think I just went about making my point the wrong way. I don't hate my mother, by any stretch. Nor do I hate anyone else. I think that they are wrong, and deserve to be punished, but I don't hate them. I hate what they did, but, hopefully, that's not all that defines them.

Am I making more sense?

You can't say we're not victims and then go off and list people that have attacked us without provocation. That's hypocracy, and it doesn't make any sense.

"The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones." That's a quote from the play Julius Caesar. You can think of all the "evil" things that American has done, but it's so easy to forget or ignore all the good things.

Well, we could try to examine what may have lead up to these events.. perhaps we were the provoker of those attacks as well.. At any rate, we have provoked ourselves. So to condemn others for what you are is the hypocrisy.

The good we do doesn't right the wrongs. And we do a lot of good too.

On the flip side of the coin, as I stated before, I do agree with abortion for medical purposes for women. Also I agree on stem cell research. And production of stem cells for research and medical purposes. Sometimes you need to take a life to save a life.

The one thing about leading or being in charge is responsibility. It's like an adult with a child "do as I say, not as I do." It's about knowing how to do things responsibly. We have WMDs, we have nukes, we have the most sophisticated and dangerous military and military weapons in the entire world. We also have the most restraint. We also have the most... responsibility to be mature about how they're used.

Your next argument: "We're the only nation ever proven to use nukes on anyone."

Just because we show restraint, and we have compassion and more responsibility than everybody else, doesn't mean we wont punish a nation that deserves it to prove a point.

We were staying out of WWII completely. And even if we had joined, it would have been on the european front. We were attacked, without provocation by Japan, who hoped to cripple us enough that we wouldn't enter against them, which we hadn't planned on doing anyway. We dropped the two bombs on them at hiroshima and nagasaki(sp?) to show the world that we would do it if we were backed into a corner. It was a point that was well taken, well understood, and well accepted.

Abortion is so not necessary for stem cells. One can get more viable stem cells from the umbilical cord of a full term, delivered baby.

no need for "take a life to save a life."

I'm trusted by more women.

Where do you draw the line? Producing stem cells which could be construed as life are used for drugs and research. Some consider artificially producing stem cells is murder and playing God.

Yes, It's ok for a woman to claim domain over her own body and that which is contained inside it.

I can't agree with this. The child too has human rights. Not perhaps in law, but thats the fault of law makers

If one needs to kill to protect a way of life, it is the wrong way of life..

So if my way of life involves catching a bus in central London weekday mornings, and some crazy moslem jumps aboard screaming about Allah while trying to connect two wire terminals as he tries to detonate a bombs in his backpack, I shouldnt bother to kill the dick head. I should really just le him get on with murdering the whole busload full of commuters.

And this is because my way of life, is the wrong way of life.

Thanks Wez, I'm glad you cleared that up for me . I guess I was just too ing stupid to figure this out myself.

Hopefully not anymore...

Scientists have turned an ordinary skin cell into what appears to be an embryonic stem cell. The process may eventually eliminate the controversial step of destroying human embryos for stem cell research. The new technique involves fusing a skin cell with an existing, laboratory-grown embryonic stem cell. The fused, or hybrid, cell is "reprogrammed" to its embryonic state, Harvard University scientists report in the journal Science.

Stem Cell Breakthrough: No More Need to Destroy Embryos?

I too was supportive of stem cell research using embryos of aborted fetus'. Even though I don't agree with abortion, if it's gonna happen anyway, maybe something good can come out of it.

It's a unique situation where one life is totally dependent upon another. One cannot be given human rights without stepping on the rights of the other.. a puzzle for sure.

Most likely the dickhead would have killed himself.. Perhaps your way of life interferred with this dickheads way of life through military action and he saw you as the dickhead he needed to kill.

Your argument doesn't make sense though. It's illegal for someone to take a life, even their own. If someone attempts suicide or, in some cases, threatens suicide, we lock the person up as "a danger to themselves." By this simple principle alone, abortion should be illegal.

Wez,

I am not going to bother trying to post that wacko logic you spouted, I will simply say again, if you cannot take full responsibility for the life you took, then every attack you make on the government is bull.

Your saying it is okay for you to kill your own child for selfish reasons, but if the government does it, that is wrong, I cannot understand how you can be so rediclious.

You say it is wrong to take a life to defend your way of life right?

So if someone was trying to kill your mother, or anyone else you loved, you would just sit there and watch, not try to stop the killer right?

I can only believe you say these completely crazy things just to get attention.

I'm not sure that a womans rights are being trampled by the baby during pregnancy if the woman disaproves of her pregnancy Wez. I would put up with hardship and pain to try and save a life.

If I found someone in distress on a mountain I would stay with them and build the best shelter I could. I'd share my last meal. I'd try to atract attention with a view to a rescue. I could not just wander off and pretend I saw nothing because it was all too much of an inconvenience to do anything to help another person.

But like I said elsewhere, I don't blame individuals for bad choices. I blame governments that allow this in the first place.

There are all sorts of precautions that can be taken to avoid pregnancy. Non penetrative sex works, as does penetration with condoms. Abstinance works too. Instead people just indulge themselves however they want, then use abortion like it was a legitimate form of contraception. Hence we see one million plus babys killed each year. It should not be happening.

I dont think he saw anything. Not me, you, the old lady at the back of the bus, the children chattring up front. He murdered everyone he could. There was no provocation from the victims, he had never met any of the victims, how could they have ever harmed him?

Wez are you in a patriot group ?

I think you're on to something sheik. If conception and having a baby is an inconvenience for a woman, she should be sterilized. That way she can never be inconvenienced again. When they perform an abortion, they should go ahead and remove her ovaries, or tie her tubes, or whatever they can do to stop her from being able to reproduce. That would resolve the issue and her perceived "human right" to not be forced to have a baby could never be trampled again. I think right here, at Off Topic Forum.com, we've come up with the ultimate solution for abortion. Congrats guys. It's been a cumulative effort.

I totally understand where you're coming from.. But I feel it crosses the line to decide what's right for anyone else. People are not forced to have abortions. I don't like to remove choices for people, even if they're wrong choices.

No one in this world should be dying at the hands of others. That was the funny thing about our situation.. We were together at 18 and never used protection for 16 years, no problems. Then at 34, when she's on birth control, it happens. Go figure..

Patriot group? No... What are they?

I don't condone suicide bombings, or remote control, billion dollar bombings. I don't think you realize how many innocent men, women and children have died in Iraq from the actions of our militaries.. Is one worse than the other because it happened to you? It's all bad.

Matter of fact, you should be glad they're limited to these types of attacks.. how would you like the US and Englands military might up your ass instead?

Posted
He admited he did wrong. He regrets his actions and said so.

He started to, but the second we pointed how his own killing of an innocent life makes his attacks on others kind of silly, then he backpeddled and took back his admission:

No, you are.. I don't consider a fertilized egg, life, you do

He is a hypocrite, he bashes everyone else for doing things less horrible than he has done himself.

All he does is try to deflect things away from himself. He tries to make others sound worse than him so he is not soo bad.

It is an old game to try and bring others down if your unable to elevate yourself.

Killing a baby is deciding for that life that it does not deserve life. If a woman can decide the life is not worth while just because it would be inconvient to her, now that is horrible.
