wez Posted January 12, 2008 Author Posted January 12, 2008 I agree that the respect and lack of civility that Belichck showed was less then anything approaching, "class". People call him a c0cky, ass. I'll agree that he's an ass, but as for c0cky. In the words of Kid Rock, "It's only c0cky if you can't back it up". So far he's backed it up. The whole cheating thing was much ado about nothing in my opinion. I'd be willing to bet that if they put as much energy into that as they are steroids in baseball, you'd find every team is doing it. I think it's a stupid rule anyway. You can't video tape signals, but there is nothing stopping you from assigning someone to sit with binoculars and write down the signals. It's a technicality and although I understand that Roger Goodell is trying to clean up the league and use people as examples, I feel the punishment was excessive. 1/2 mil from Belichick, 1/4 mil from the Pats and a first round draft pick for something that everyone is doing is a bit much. There is nothing wrong with this. This is a professional sports team. There is no such thing as running up the score in pro football. The all get paid very well to do their jobs. It's your job to stop me from scoring, not my job to quit trying to keep from hurting your feelings. I'll go against obvious, running up the score in the NCAA, but not the pros. Well said... I agree, as far as "running up the score" booo hooo... My view is that it's the job of the offense to score points. Like Madden says, if you don't like it, stop them. Quote

I think they were doing what ALL teams did and prolly have done under the radar since the technology was available Patriots backers keep saying this, but there is no proof or even a semblance of reason, none whatsoever, to even suggest that. There is nothing wrong with this. The Pats got lucky, bigtime. Lucky that this c cky bullsh t didn't get Brady's ankle twisted or Moss's arm broken while trying to break records. Records that Bostonians always said didn't matter when Manning and company set about to shattering over the last four years. All we heard was "Records don't matter. All that matters is the ring". Now that the Pats are breaking records, all of the sudden records matter. You gotta understand, around here, the Patriots are not to be spoken of in a good light. The rivalry that has formed during this decade has caused Hoosiers to hate Tom Brady and his cohorts. Brady could hand me a check for a million dollars and I would likely complain about the way he did it. Just don't listen to me when I talk Patriots football. I'm just gonna whine and bitch like a biased jerk. Quote i am sofa king we todd did.

I'm not a Pat's backer, and I know there isn't any proof, but I still think it's pretty safe to presume that it's pretty widespread throughout the league. The Pats got lucky, bigtime. Had one of the stars on the team been hurt or received a season ending injury or something, he then would have been looked upon as a greedy jerk, but since it went his way, it's fine. Being from Indy, I was pretty certain you didn't hold the Pat's in high regard. Quote

Giants just intercepted Romo in the end zone. Cowboys loose. That should make Green Bay and Favre happy though. Looks like I went 2-2 on my picks this week. That puts me at 5-3. Quote

DaMan Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Going with the favories next week. New England Green Bay I want to pick San Diego and would have if Rivers and LT weren't hurt. They say they'll play and probably will, but, how effective can they be. San Diego if at full strength is the only team capable of beating NE. The teams that NE had the hardest times against were teams that could run the ball and stop the run. San Diego can do that and while I take NE I wouldn't be one bit surprised if they get beat. Quote
snafu Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 So how'bout a little history lession wez. Didn't the Patriots. win like two super bowls in a roe the last few years? Jhony5 Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 Sorry about your team jhony. Thanks. I'm still on suicide watch for the next 48 hours. This year's loss was a bit more disappointing than any of the previous playoff losses. For two reasons. One, Sand Diego was just supposed to be a speed bump on the road to New England. Even inside of two minutes as the Colts started their last drive, I never doubted for a split second that we were going to win it. When Clark dropped what I thought was a brilliantly placed pass over the defender on 4th and 5, I just couldn't believe it. Football isn't nearly as fun when you lose. And secondly, the domination we've seen with the Colts has been going on for some time now. A record 5 straight years with 12 or more wins. This cannot go on forever. 3-5 more years of dominant play is the maximum one could expect. It really is quite depressing to think about things going back to the way they were pre-Manning. It'll probably go by in a flash. Before I know it Manning and Harrison will retire (I expect Harrison to retire this off season or the next), Dungy and Tom Moore aren't long for the NFL either. This whole thing will fall apart rather fast over the next few years. It isn't pleasant to think of going back to those Jeff George days when the Colts didn't have an identity. At first just watching your team win regular season games is enough. After awhile one gets used to it and regular season dominance becomes an expected formality. As of now I am rooting for Brett Favre and the Greenbay Packers. I would love to see Favre win it all one more time, and retire as a winner just like Elway. Quote i am sofa king we todd did.
timesjoke Posted January 14, 2008 Posted January 14, 2008 I just have to say that the Pats have been impressing me for a long time. They lose lots of talent, and keep comming back to the playoffs, year after year, and I believe they maintain one of the lowest salary amounts in the NFL. Do more with less money, every owner's dream. I just cannot imagine anyone else winning the superbowl at this point. Quote
