Guest webDressing Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I just gave you a link where science is used to prove the entire movie is completely bogus. NO you DIDN'T! You posted a link that goes to a site funded by Steven J. Milloy, who is known for trying to spreading his conservative or libertarian political agenda. See, I told you I would do research about your bogus website. Looks like you're busted now You said you wanted facts, so here are the facts. I hope you brought a lot of water with you, because you're about to eat a LOT of crow Here is the truth about Steven J. Milloy, the person that runs the website that you claim is full of "facts to debunk Al Gore" Steven J. Milloy is a columnist for Fox News and a paid advocate for Phillip Morris, ExxonMobil and other corporations. From the 1990s until the end of 2005, he was an adjunct scholar at the libertarian think tank the Cato Institute. Milloy runs the website Junkscience.com, which is dedicated to debunking what he alleges to be false claims regarding global warming, DDT, environmental radicalism and scare science among other topics. His other website, CSR Watch.com, is focused around attacking the corporate social responsibility movement. He is also head of the Free Enterprise Action Fund, a mutual fund he runs with tobacco executive Tom Borelli, who happens to be listed as the secretary of the Advancement of Sound Science Center, an organisation Milloy operates from his home in Potomac, Maryland. In January 2006, Paul D. Thacker reported in The New Republic that Milloy has received thousands of dollars in payments from the Phillip Morris company since the early nineties, and that NGOs controlled by Milloy have received large payments from ExxonMobil. A spokesperson for Fox News stated, "Fox News was unaware of Milloy's connection with Philip Morris. Any affiliation he had should have been disclosed." link But wait, as good as that is it gets even better... Here is the truth about the website that you base your so-called facts on: The Junk Science Page is not about junk science so much as it is about anything which does not support a conservative or libertarian political agenda for businesses and industries that do not like regulations that limit their ability to pollute or poison us or our environment. Milloy uses the term 'junk science' mainly as a political and polemical term. What the majority of scientists call sound science, Milloy usually calls junk science. And what he calls 'sound science', the majority of scientists usually call junk science. Milloy is up front about his deception, however. He describes junk science as "bad science used to further a special agenda." Milloy's so-called junk science page is full of misinformation and misleading claims, and makes little effort to separate science from policy claims made by scientists. He can cite articles by scientists who support his beliefs. The hundreds who come to different conclusions are attacked for their bad motives and junk methodologies. He cites articles favorably which deny a role for analogical reasoning in science (drawing inferences for humans based on animal studies). He suggests that lawyers who sue manufacturers of harmful products are bad but the manufacturers are good. He even has a favorable reference and link to a UC Berkeley Law professor who claims that in America scientists cannot criticize Darwin. In short, the Junk Science page has some valid analyses sprinkled amongst its propaganda, but overall the page is deceptive. But don't take my word for it. Just look at the list of scientists that Mr. Milloy considers to be junk scientists: nearly every person on his hit list has done a study with potential political implications that offend his political agenda. link Gee timesjoke, you're really living up to your name. I told you I'd love exposing you and your lies, and your so-called "facts" really are a joke. LOL Quote
Guest webDressing Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 God is a belief. God is an ideal. God may not exist. God may exist. I believe in God. That alone does not make it true. It only makes it true to me and those that believe. I agree. The ancient Aztecs used to say that "no word or sound could possibly describe God", and I think that's pretty accurate and points to why religions are such a farce. I guess someone on this forum doesn't know (or even know of) any nice Atheists, which is a shame for them. Yes, it is Anna, but my guess is that they did meet really nice Atheist in their life, but that they chose to ignore or block them out. There are good and bad in all sectors of life. No one 'group' has a patent on it. When people like TJ try and claim that only religious people do good they are only making themselves look stupid. Most educated people realize that there are good people all over this great planet of ours Quote

Milloy, the person that runs the website that you claim is full of "facts to debunk Al Gore" Well, being as Hugo already slapped your dumb butt atound quite nicely, I will keep this simple, first you failed to prove the scienc wrong, second your our very bised source against this guy says he only gor a few thousand dollars from as far back as the 90's. Milloy has received thousands of dollars in payments from the Phillip Morris company since the early nineties, and that NGOs controlled by Milloy have received large payments from ExxonMobil. If just a few hundred to a thousand dollars a year from oil companies is enough to claim he has sold his soul to them, then we can prove that Al Gore has taken a lot more from speical intrest groups so he has sold his soul as well. Should we post Al Gores campaign contributer list to see who he got money from? After a week of prepration and other people helping you this is the best you can come up with? Your only method of trying to disprove their science is to try and attack the character of the person? Being as this is the exact same tactic you have used here over and over, it does not surprise me. You come here empty handed, your only offer personal attacks as your debating style and most of those attacks are very lame indeed. But wait, as good as that is it gets even better... Here is the truth about the website that you base your so-called facts on: And yet as Hugo pointed out, your sourse is more biased than what you claim mine to be. While you were wasting your time trying to dig up dirt on the messenger and ignoring the message, I posted a couple other things to consider, like this: .: U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works :: Minority Page :. Over 400 prominent scientists all reversing the claim of man made global warming, including this nice quote: Many of the scientists featured in this report consistently stated that numerous colleagues shared their views, but they will not speak out publicly for fear of retribution. Atmospheric scientist Dr. Nathan Paldor, Professor of Dynamical Meteorology and Physical Oceanography at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, author of almost 70 peer-reviewed studies, explains how many of his fellow scientists have been intimidated. ?Many of my colleagues with whom I spoke share these views and report on their inability to publish their skepticism in the scientific or public media,? Paldor wrote. Or this one: .: U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works :: Minority Page :. "Attempts to prevent global climate change from occurring are ultimately futile, and constitute a tragic misallocation of resources that would be better spent on humanity's real and pressing problems," Gee timesjoke, you're really living up to your name. I told you I'd love exposing you and your lies, and your so-called "facts" really are a joke. LOL Pot, Kettle, Black. You have still offered nothing. Not one shred of proof, sure you worked very hard to tear away at a person, but so what? You have not proven anything about what we are talking bout, and you have not proven that the information I offered is wrong, or even biased to be honest. If getting a few hundred dollars a year from oil compainies is enough to completely discount science, then nobody can speak on this issue because every scientist worth their sand are all working on grants offered by either the private sector or the government. No, you cannot simply toss away facts by trying to attack the owner of a site and especially with such a tiny amount of money involved. Let's get back to the science and provable facts, something you dodge and duck at every turn with your personal attacks. The truth will set you free of your closed mind. Character assassination only gets you past the gullible and childish people who have no minds of their own. Those of us capable of thinking can see past your feble attempts and point out your flaws, if your going to make a claim, back it up. I can tear away at your false claims and your lack of real knowledge on these subjects all day but to be honest, your wasting my time. I don't mind a little of the childish games with Wez because he is at least funny sometimes, but you sir, you cam in here insulting anyone who dared to dissagree with you and so far, have not posted a single fact to back you up. You make wild claims of grandure about running a foundation and having lots of help to do research but at the end of the day, all you have is personal attacks, well any idiot can fall on that sword, and you have done so nicely. Your now officially branded an idiot, maybe you care, maybe you don't, but this is your fault, not mine. I gave you a chance to prove yourself, and you failed miserably, but I am willing to give you one more chance. I give you the chance to prove Gore's movie is not full of beans, this is the fourth time I have asked you this. Do not come back with personal attacks, come back with real proof this time. You must also be able to have some credibility, the 400 scientists in the proof against man made global warming I just pointed you to, including: Harvard University; NASA; National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR); Massachusetts Institute of Technology; the UN IPCC; the Danish National Space Center; U.S. Department of Energy; Princeton University; the Environmental Protection Agency; University of Pennsylvania; Hebrew University of Jerusalem; the International Arctic Research Centre; the Pasteur Institute in Paris; the Belgian Weather Institute; Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute; the University of Helsinki; the National Academy of Sciences of the U.S., France, and Russia; the University of Pretoria; University of Notre Dame; Stockholm University; University of Melbourne; Columbia University; the World Federation of Scientists; and the University of London. The ball is in your court, you may also take notice that it only took me a few moments to completely destroy your post, it did not take me several days with a team of helpers, this is all open debating off the top of my head, yes I do live up to my name, I make a joke out of idiots like you every time, Timesjoke, lol. Guest sheik-yerbouti Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 You are the rare exception. While not religious myself I am glad most people are, because the average atheist has traded worship of god for worship of the state. I can't stand the state. In the UK we had a civil war o depose a tyrant. The tyrant was replaced with an even bigger one. Now instead of one jerk lording it over the citizen, we have several hundred of them. They pay themselves handsomely- at our expense. They get to vote on their next pay rise, and decide how much. They have innumerable fiddles. They claim "secretarial allowances" IE get another ?50K for employing a non-employee. They name their wife/husband/child. Its just another fiddle much in the news at the moment Another fiddle is the "housing allowance" once the arsehole has gotten itself elected, he immediately claims this handout. He will never be expected to repay it, its a gift. He uses it too buy a house in London. When he loses his job at a subsequent election he will be able to sell the house for a vast profit. It stinks. I'd be happier with the royals back in charge. Not ideal admittedly. But we would get rid of several hundred scroungers if we did. Quote

He asks for proof of something, once provided he ignores it and carries on as if nothing had been presented. Then there are all his ridiculous claims about Atheists.
