hugo Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Appears Obama's new plan is George's old plan.. Sounds like some more "economic stimulus" giveaways are on the way.. There's "tax rebate" talk again.. Only this time, there is no surplus like when Clinton left office. 9+ Trillion the other way, with a baby boomer retirment party on the way.. Yeah, money grows on trees.. even better, it rolls off a printing press. No need to wait for it to grow.. Anna Perenna Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 You are most likely right that my comments towards wez were "combative," but it isn't like that has only been directed at him. It is part of how my humor presents itself. always has been. I apologize if you think I was attacking him, as I wasn't. Maybe my lack of name calling and/or cursing could have been a hint? Alright ... sorry, Eddo. Tensions are high right now, so perhaps I was being overly sensitive. Quote _______________________________________________________ I don't know how to put this, but ... Anna Perenna Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 On the way home from work yesterday, I was listening to Bill O'Rielly. He had a caller that was upset that Obama keeps being listed as "a black candidate" when in reality he is only half black. To be fair to Obama, I have never heard him refer to himself as a "black candidate," I have only heard that phrase from the media. Do you think the media is consciously trying to move the vote his direction by referring to him as "black"? Should his racial heritage be an issue? Should we be focused on possibly "electing the first black president"? Are some people gonna vote for him to avoid being labeled a racist for not voting for him? I just think the media are calling him a "black candidate" because, frankly, that's how people see him. I see him as a black candidate, and Oprah Winfrey certainly sees him as a black candidate. It's only natural that we notice that he does, indeed, look like a black man. It would be nice if his heritage weren't an issue, but if he gets elected, he will go down in history as the "first black president". I also have no idea if people are voting for him simply to be considered not racist, but if they are, then that's fairly stupid. I would be full of s and grins to be able to vote for a black man or women if the candidate was right. But the simple fact is they aren't. They have no direction. Just like all the Democrates. Ok, I have read this post twice, and I still have no idea what you are trying to say. Sorry Snafu! Please explain? snafu Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Ok, I have read this post twice, and I still have no idea what you are trying to say. Sorry Snafu! Please explain? Well it started out with Obama's tax plan. Then it went into a flame fight. Then eddo threw in the should he be running as the "black" candidate. Hugo tried to get it back on track with the tax referendum (is that right?) then I jumped back to the black, women or white issue.
