wez Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 I just opened MSN and saw this.. should be a good read.. Wow.. synthetic DNA replicating a bacteria.. WASHINGTON - Researchers have assembled the entire genome of a living organism — a bacterium — in what they hope is an important step to creating artificial life. The bug, Mycoplasma genitalium, has the smallest known genome of any truly living organism, with 485 working genes. Viruses are smaller, but they are not considered completely alive as they cannot replicate by themselves.... Scientists create gene map for synthetic life - Science - MSNBC.com Won't be long and someones gonna clone a human. Maybe already have.. who knows what some people are doing out there. Quote

I'm tellin ya what! It's around the corner that man is able to create it's self. I remember years and years ago (long before computers ) they had this debate in the science world of the morality of this. They knew there would be a time that we would crack the code and artificially create DNA. Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. That's just insane!" It's kinda scarey, but there's no stopping it.. They can pass all the stem cell laws they want.. People are going to do it. Personally, I like the idea of growing spare parts.. lungs, hearts, livers, etc.. But cloning a human? Not too fond of that.. Quote

Man won't live forever. Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. That's just insane!" Penn & Teller NEVER FORGOTTEN

The only way Earthlings will live forever would be to eventually leave the planet. All stars eventually exhaust their fuel and die.. The Sun will run out of fuel at some point.. Man will most likely be long gone by that point. Kinda stupid to destroy ourselves over anything.. I'm sitting here doing some homework and bioterrorism is now a big concern in nursing and health care.. That sucks.. Quote

wez Posted January 25, 2008 Author Posted January 25, 2008 What kind of concerns? specifics please Like hospitals and other organizations implimenting and maintaining programs to be prepared for it. Trying to guard against organisms known to be weaponized that were wiped out long ago. Some people suck... Quote
