The pace was too slow from me, I prefer the Irish Stepdancing ;)

LIke this ? It seems strange to me to listen to an Irish lass, speaking with an American accent. But I know a lot of Irish people live in the USA.

Yes, only not the beginners - lol. At my son's birthday party this year, one of his friends mom was from the phillipines (I understood her fine, she spoke very good enlish), another mom was from Ireland, sweetest little thing, but I could barely understand a word she said, so cute ;)

For a little country we have many accents here. The hardest one to understand is the Geordie accent. These are the people of Nort East England.

Im OK with Londoners, the Scots, Welsh, Irish, West Country,Brummies and Scousers. I just cant understand Geordies, lol

Its just so embarrasing saying pardon me several times in a row.

Amen brother!

with your right hand over your heart...

Title 36, U.S. Code, Chapter 10 - PATRIOTIC CUSTOMS

Sec. 170. National anthem; Star-Spangled Banner

The composition consisting of the words and music known as The Star-Spangled Banner is designated the national anthem of the United States of America.

Sec. 171. Conduct during playing

During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart. Persons in uniform should render the military salute at the first note of the anthem and retain this position until the last note. When the flag is not displayed, those present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed there.

Per Federal Code.

Or else?

I'm really wasn't surprised to get this response from someone from Minnesota.

Not to belittle you but, I'm sorry, I was a Boy Scout, and even before that, I was taught to respect the flag, the pledge and the anthem. Long before 9/11 and long before knowing that it was actually set in US code that you show respect and reverence to the flag.

I had a grandfather who was a POW in Germany, my father, God rest his soul, and his twin brother were soldiers in Vietnam. My grandfather was involved in both the VFW and American Legion until his death and my uncle, even though the Vietnam War may have been for less than honorable reasons, he is still to this day actively invloved in the American Legion and Memorial Day ceremonies.

No matter what is going on in the current political or international realm, in my opinion, there is no excuse for showing disrespect or lack of respect for the flag and those who died to make it what it is to represent.

I just think it's funny something like that needs to be legislated with a code.. respect is for people, not inanimate objects.. Can't teach, or especially, demand respect .. IMO

Leviticus 26:1

“You shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am the Lord your God.

"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

How about...

I pledge allegience to the truth of The United States of America, and to the plutocracy for which it stands, one nation under God, completely divided among economic, racial, and religious lines, without liberty and justice for all. :D

Now I ask, which holds more truth? Saying something does not make it so...

They missed Penn and Teller's theory.

I have heard this played perfectly. But its on vinyl, so I cant share that rendition with you. This lady though is pretty good. I'd be interested to hear what others thought of the piece. To me, its about despair and resignation. Enjoy:

I know I've posted this song before. It was a rendition with Kenny G. But I get a tingle down my spin everytime I hear it. God I love this song!

If there is a heaven, Louie Armstrong is right there to greet us! :)
