ImWithStupid Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Clinton team pushes for Obama as running mate By Thomas Ferraro WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Hillary and Bill Clinton are again teaming up on Barack Obama -- this time saying the first-term U.S. lawmaker, whom they have derided as inexperienced, would be a strong running mate on a Democratic presidential ticket headed by the former first lady. In talking up a joint ticket, the Clintons may be seeking the upper hand, attempting to put her in consideration for the top of the ticket when she so far has failed to win the votes necessary to assure that she would face Republican presidential candidate John McCain in the November election. The maneuver may also be aimed at countering an image in voters' minds of Obama as presidential material and at helping restore an aura of inevitability as the party's nominee that Clinton had early in the campaign but lost. "The Clintons are in a difficult position," said Dennis Goldford, a political science professor at Drake University in Iowa, who has tracked the presidential race. "If she wins the Democratic presidential nomination, she would need Obama's supporters. But she needs to be careful. If this talk of him on the ticket is seen as a cynical maneuver, it could backfire and hurt her," Goldford said. Clinton team pushes for Obama as running mate - Yahoo! News So Hillary, who is behind Obama in delegates, along with hubby, Bill, are proposing that Obama should agree to let Hillary be nominated President, and she will agree to name him as VP. Sounds like someone is a bit worried, or desperate. Quote
eddo Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I would say worried and desperate. The longer those two attact each other, the harder it will be for either one of them to win against McCain- so to win- Run together. I predited this a couple months ago. It just may be the only chance the Dems have come November. Quote I'm trusted by more women.

phreakwars Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Desperation on Hillary's part. I think she came into it thinking she'd be a shoo in for the Democrat side. I don't think she was expecting the Obama card. What Bill basically said in his speech was: in his view, Obama would win the "urban areas and the upscale voters" while Clinton claims "the traditional rural areas that we lost when President Reagan was president. Which actually translates to THE MORE INTELLIGENT DEMOCRATS WILL VOTE FOR OBAMA, WHILE THE BACKWOODS HICK DEMOCRATS WILL VOTE FOR HILLARY Which is probably pretty close to true, but I think when all is said and done, Hillary runs the greater risk of losing more DEM voters then the REP voters that she would gain by winning the nomination. Too many "PROGRESSIVE THINKERS" such as myself, see through her BS and know her loyalties, although, while given a LIBERAL label by many, lie within the Republican party. Hillary Clinton more or less = George Bush in the eyes of the true progressive. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
hugo Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 If Obama is a progressive I must label myself a regressive. At least in Europe the socialists admit they are socialists. eddo Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 But if you were Obama, wouldn't you just be insulted by this? Oh absolutely. It shows the power hungriness of Hitlery, but it is an avenue that will need to be looked at if the Dems want an actually shot at the white house. It would likely be a lovely phone call to listen in on as they discuss who has which office, lol Quote I'm trusted by more women.
ImWithStupid Posted March 10, 2008 Author Posted March 10, 2008 Obama ridicules notion of VP slot By CHARLES BABINGTON, Associated Press Writer COLUMBUS, Miss. - Democrat Barack Obama ridiculed the idea of being Hillary Rodham Clinton's running mate Monday, saying voters must choose between the two for the top spot on the fall ticket. The Illinois senator used his first public appearance of the week to knock down the notion that he might accept the party's vice presidential nomination. He noted that he has won more states, votes and delegates than Clinton so far. "I don't know how somebody who is in second place is offering the vice presidency to the person who is first place," Obama said, drawing cheers and a long standing ovation from about 1,700 people in Columbus, Miss. Saying he wanted to be "absolutely clear," he added: "I don't want anybody here thinking that somehow, 'Well, you know, maybe I can get both.' Don't think that way. You have to make a choice in this election." "I am not running for vice president," Obama said. "I am running for president of the United States of America." Obama ridicules notion of VP slot - Yahoo! News It seems Obama didn't like the plan. I like this quote... "I don't know how somebody who is in second place is offering the vice presidency to the person who is first place," That was the part that I was wondering about Hillary's "offer", also. Quote
