Just when I thought I'd heard of the stupidest idea in history...

Teens Arrested After Attempting To Rob Police Station

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- Two teenage boys are in big trouble after police said that they tried to rob a South Florida police station.

"You know what, this is probably the dumbest thing I've ever seen," Port St. Lucie Police spokesman Rob Vega said.

Vega told WPBF News 25 that the two boys, ages 12 and 14, walked into the lobby of a regional station around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and demanded money

from an aide behind the glass enclosure.

Vega said the 12-year-old hid one hand under his jacket as if he had a gun. Another aide ran into the back screaming for help.

Within minutes, a half dozen officers, some with guns drawn, burst into the lobby and arrested the boys.

"In all my time here, whoever would have thought that someone would come to a police department and attempt to rob it. It's unbelievable. It's lucky that they're only going to jail and not to the morgue," Vega told WPBF.

Both boys have been charged with attempted armed robbery. The 14-year-old was also charged with violating his probation.

Vega told WPBF that the kids were laughing while being arrested and remarked, "We'll be famous now."

The boys were taken to the juvenile detention center.

I think that last quote says a lot about these kids upbringing and the first one I put in red is quite unfortunate, it didn't work out the other way. :D

Hahahahaha.. forced sterilization sounds perfectly reasonable.. Is it common for police stations to have a bunch of cash on hand?

Sounds like a cry for help and attention to me.. :D

"We'll be famous now."

Wow. That statement says tons about the mentality of some of the people in the word today- willing to do anything to be famous. Reminds me of that guy that went into the mall and shot up people leaving a suicide note that said "I'm going to go out big" or something like that.

It's sad that this is what our kids think it takes to get recognized...

I was glad to hear that they are withholding the names, hopefully to avoid them getting what they want. By time their names get known, nobody will care outside of their area code.

I wish the media had so much restraint. It doesn't take a genious to see that it's the sensationalizing of these events that partially feeds the continuation. I mean, hell, I figured it out and I'm an idiot. :D

That was the guy here in Nebraska, at a mall in Omaha.

Don't give the media too much credit. My guess is they had to withold the names because both were minors. Otherwise the names would be all over TV, radio, and the papers.

West Palm is on the Eastern coast above Fort Lauderdale. I am at Gainesville, north central Florida, I would say a good 3.5 hour drive for me away.

This kind of action by young kids is just another symptom of what happens when we try to run a society that has broken families.

I would bet three months income that both of these kids don't have a father in the home, anyone willing to take me up on that bet?

I'd bet they're in prison themselves...

None was intended to the media, law enforcement aren't releasing the names. I'm sure the media would have interviewed their friends, family, neighbors, classmates, teacher, etc... by now.

Wow. It takes a special kind of stupid to do something that dumb.

I mean, if you're going to be a thug then be the best thug you can be. Take the time to scope out your robbery target a little harder next time, boys.

Of course they'll probably learn some new tricks in juvie.
