builder Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 How many of you Americans are suffering with this heat wave? I'm getting all sorts of dramatic scenes on my CNN link in the land of OZ. Power outages, peeps dying in their sleep. Is it really that hot? Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.
phreakwars Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 It's been hot as hell, but I haven't really suffered, I don't have to work in the sweltering heat for very long, but I do get exposed to it.. My car air conditioning is my main cooling system for me.. The only thing that sucks though, is I lose some horsepower when running the A.C. Thus costing me more for gas ... but it's worth it, because otherwise, it's been hot as hell this summer. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
Vortex Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Here in Minnesota its been hot for like 4 days..maybe 5....100deg pretty much..and very humid (damn lakes...and damn mosquitos...which should be this stupid states state bird if you ask me) but of course the weekend I got asked to work more was in that "heat zone". NO big deal, till i was wearing a dress shirt, tie, and pants...... still not that big of deal...but im in a kitchen the entire time. and the hottest day i worked in that sweat hog for 12 hours with only a 20 minute break...course i had to go smoke...where? OUT FRIGGIN SIDE!!! It was bad....but the rain for the last 2 days cooled things off.....too bad we got an entire months rain in 2 days...and even more than our months average....by zeus! Quote -I don't know about you...but I am SICK and tired of being nice and understanding!!! -The Liver is evil and must be punished! -The Early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. tiredofwhiners Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 It's hot but it's summer, and here it always gets hot. Hell it will get hotter yet before month end. Two years ago i was working in south east Colo, 115 deg. 30 days in a row, now that was hot. But the locus started singing so the first freeze should be the second week in sept. Then we'll be bitching it's cold, but the bird size mosquito's will be gone. Quote AA's for quitters...i'm no quitter!

Mack the Knife Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Quite bitching, it has been constantly over 110-120 degrees for the past 2 months where I'm at, and at least around 100 degrees since early May. Mack the Knife Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Of course that doesn't include an additional 20 degrees it feels like when wearing flat jackets, helmets, and all that cool stuff. When it gets down in the 80-90s at night I feel cold. Not that I'm bitching of course. I'd never do that. But it is pretty funny when our local translators start laughing at the news reports coming out of the States about how it's only 90 degrees and everybody is dying off like the end of the world has come. 1 Quote http://www.sucksbbs.net/data/MetaMirrorCache/f0f5ca4439cc64cb06447f054d1c972d.gif Don't like my sig? builder Posted August 3, 2006 Author Posted August 3, 2006 Heat is relative to humidity, I guess, so 108 is no biggie if it's not so humid. It regularly tops 118 in places I've worked before. Gotta change clothes three times a day at work, or the toes start to rot, among other things. Quote Persevere, it pisses people off.

Gotta change clothes three times a day at work, or the toes start to rot, among other things. I second that notion. I lived in Tuscan fo 9 years and it got hot as hell (105-120). The difference with humidity is like having a heavy blanket wrapped around you in addition to the temperature. I remember when it rained in Arizona all the kids would go outside to play. Weird. Although kids these days don't go outside much no matter what the weather. Quote i am sofa king we todd did.

Lethalfind Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Its not been any hotter then usual here in Florida. And unlike alot of places we are getting the normal amount of rain as well. angie Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 We had an 8 day heat wave. Hit 100 once, heat index was about 110 for 3 days. Now, we got hit with a beautiful Canadian cold front. 70s for the next 3 days, and nothing over 85 for the next 8. It's grand. RoyalOrleans Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Yesterday was the first day in three weeks when the mercury didn't reach the 95-98 degree range. It was unusually brisk for an early August day and the temperature must've been as low as 75 degrees. Much of this summer has been sweltering.
