OK...so, Im truckin on down the highway in Oklahoma...pullin a 36 foot gooseneck cattle trailer behind me loaded!! Im going along at about 69 mph...as I know how the state troopers in the area are...when outta the blue..going up a hill...some idiot in a pickup decides he just can't wait two more minutes to get to town and starts passin me...well it can take a while to pass my long ass trailer..I start lettin off the accelerator cuz hell if I can see anything over that damned hill. then as he is nose to nose with me...a car pops over the hill. I hit the shoulder as fast as I can and the idiot BARELY makes it over. I have had MANY close calls like this one but not NEAR as close or scary...He got over in time but was fishtailing tryin to regain control after swerving madly to do so. This is the kind of stupid shit that kills and mutilates people out here in rural America.

Theres not many stopping places between towns...lots of blind curves and hills...and plenty of beer stores along the way. Man am I tired of sucky ass drivers!!!

I think that there are a lot of people everywhere who are poor drivers. There is just no time today to wait for 2 minutes or 1 or even 10 friggin seconds.

Unfortunately like you said, it's the rush that is killing people. If everyone could learn to slow down in the car, enjoy the drive and realize that racing at 40 over the speed limit cuts about 2 minutes off their drive time, but it also cuts down their life expectancy to 2 minutes... Sure, passing is a safe and normal practice...when used properly.. I get sick driving to my cottage when I see people passing camper-vans going up a short hill because being as I am I always tend to picture the worst-case scenario and I almost throw up every time I see it. A minivan with kids in tow pulling out to pass is gutwrenching, especially when - like one red grand caravan I saw once - they don't follow the lines, or use their common sense to judge a corner or hill...

Ever seen a minivan get backflipped by an acura rsx? Minivans going up hills with 100000 pounds of crap in the trunk are pretty ass-heavy. The RSX just plowed the front of the van and this bugger just soared. RSX was mangled, roof ripped off, hood totally crushed... van was laying on its back roof crushed under its own weight..

The only case of bad driving i have seen worse than this was on the way home from my grandparents house on the Trans-Canada highway, probably not unlike the rural american highways you are driving on lilmizz. Black thunderbird doing about 190km/h coming the opposite way on a two lane stretch of the highway just south of oshawa, ontario. He was going way too fast for anyones good in a car as unprepared as his was... Have you ever seen a video clip of those hydroplanes? Fast ass little boats that glide on the water and usually end up in shreds... This car lifted up, shuddered a little due to wind resistance and did a barrell roll towards the shoulder of the highway. I watched all this as I was driving directly towards them. I had my 4 children and my wife in the car. I was scared pretty bad after.. pulled over and called the police then kept on my way (they already noticed it by the time i recovered from the shock and pulled over to call them. (I'm not a very good samaritan, so I didnt really think to turn around and go help...besides, would you take your 4 very small children (8, 6, 4, 1) to the scene of a multiple fatality car crash?)

Read in the paper that the driver was not wearing his seatbelt and was thrown 20 some odd metres from the car and skidded for another 20. the passenger was belted and survived but is paraplegic (legs), the poor girl.

I'm always shocked at the stupidity when news comes out about someone not wearing a seat belt. I was a pretty rebellious young person, drove too fast and such but I always had on my seat belt. Even (especially) driving across a parking lot. I tried one day to drive home from the bank of mail boxes not a block from my home with no seat belt and I couldn't do it...

Seat belts DO indeed save lives!!! Too bad not eveyone is MADE to wear em, but then it IS their choice to be dumb. Anyone getting in my vehicle MUST buckle up as I have seen too many people who have been thrown from a vehicle that had been crashed...and it damned sure aint pretty. What is worse is when parents fail to buckle their children in properly...or at all. Just because a person thinks they are the best driver in the world...dont mean some idiot comin at ya aint gonna do something stupid and cause a tragic accident!

I think it's wrong to have a seat belt law(and helmet law). Me getting thrown is my choice, i'm not asking anyone to decide whats best for me. The only time i wear one is when i'm getting pulled over, otherwise there in the way. If the insurance company wanted to charge me more for not wearing, fine just leave me alone. My children do have to buckle up until they are 18 then they can decide. I have seen people die from being thrown, but have also see a person get burned from not being able to get out. There are people who die BECAUSE they had a seat belt, but you'll never see those numbers.

OH I dont argue that there arent people who die from wearing them...but the number of those who are saved by them are much better outlook...I'll take my chances...the fact that your children are buckled in and you are not can also be a bad thing...just from experience and actually seeing this kinda thing happen. for instance when you roll a vehicle...alot of times..you are not thrown out immediately...instead you become a human projectile in the vehicle...if you bounced around inside of your car...you could actually hit your children and injure of kill them. It is something alot of people dont really think about...in fact I never thought bout it either, til I saw the aftermath of it. Im not criticizing you, just tryin to inform ya. And yes I do agree that it is YOUR body and it is YOUR choice to wear them or not!

Seatbelts do save lives but every crash is different. My two brothers and two friends would be dead if they had their seatbelts on. They hit a moose and it took the entire roof off the car. Made it a convertible! They were out moose hunting and were diving home. Everybody was slouched down sleeping. The drive was the only one to have the roof graze his head and smash his face in the steering wheel. He got the grunt of the accedent. But then again most of the time Seatbelts save lives

The problem is that my auto insurance rates are higher because you don't wear a seatbelt. My medical costs are higher because you don't wear a seatbelt. And if you lose control of your car because you aren't wearing a seatbelt, my funeral costs will be higher also.

I said i was willing to pay more insurance. Your funeral costs will be the same. A little cheaper the earlier you die do to inflation, so i could save you money.

So are you blaming cancer patients for your insurance being higher too? And how about smokers, they run it up. And people who drive with out insurance they really are more of a problem than us anti seat belt people.

Your first mistake was letting up on the pedal. If the ass-clown has big enough stones to pass a rig larger than his own going up a hill on a 2-lane divided highway then he surely has paid up his life insurance policy. Just make sure the next guy stays behind your front bumper. I do alot of freeway driving and I see many acts of random stupidity. I usually drive below the posted speed limit with my camper because I like the extra slight cushion of safety but each and every time I see a divided highway with the exact scenario that you described I ultimately speed up to prevent the road warriors from getting any ideas.

I fool alot of people with the ability of my 34-year-old Chevy truck to accelerate quite rapidly with an 11 1/2 foot Lance camper on the ass end as I can easily pull away from most motorhomes, newer trucks w/trailers...boats...horse..camping..Jet Ski...etc., tour busses and of course 18-wheelers.

There is something to be said about a 30+ year old warmed-over big block with 21'st century engine management and direct port fuel injection!

"May you sit naked in Hell for all eternity with your tender rectum resting squarely upon the sharp end of a red hot barbed stalagmite, all the while you are tormented forever by hideous demons who force you to listen to endless Barry Manilow and Elton John duets of Ashlee Simpson's greatest hits, let this fate befall all those who so much as plagiarize one single word from my work"
