snafu Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 I remember a long time ago seeing in a Soldier Of Fortune magazine, an ad selling round sealed gun cases so you could bury your ammo and weapons. It would be a sad day in America if it comes to that. The real sad thing is the intent would be to revolt. Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. snafu Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Bought my son a bb/pellet gun yesterday too. It's the first time he has been interseted in guns. I've wanted to get him started a long time ago. Now he wants to go shooting my mini- 14. Yay! I'm a happy camper! Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. That's just insane!" Guest sheik-yerbouti Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Its amazing that something like that could happen in the US where you have a right to bear arms in the constitution. Maybe though, there can waive that right temporarily in certain situations. These instances of gun confiscation were all related to Huricane Katrina which hit New Orleans . There was a lot of rioting, I'm guessing the police just wanted to minimise deaths. Desperate people do desperate things. Have they stopped confiscating guns now. Quote
snafu Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Well the rioting and mayhem would be a good reason to have a gun to protect yourself. I'm sure there were out right strong arm thefts going around. It's pretty scary to think that no matter what the congress says what our rights are, they're gonna do what they want when it comes down to it. If not, you would be within your rights to treat those police as any other robber who was trying to steal from you. Scary thought. Quote

So, according to US law, you could refuse, and if it goes to a gun fight, be within your right to defend your property at the expense of a few cops. Not a good idea though, as they are numerically superior usually when they do this stuff, and get lots of shooting practise in preperation for pushing people about. And of course, even though you have a right to defend your property, dont you just know you'd be busted for murder. Quote

All too many citizens are willing to waive their own rights, though. I got a speeding ticket two days ago. I showed the cop my NRA card and my weapon registration. He was nervous about my revolver in the holster, in plain view, and unloaded. He asked if he could walk around and hold my revolver until the end of the stop and ticket writing process. I answered, "Yes, you can. If I can hold your LOADED 9mm on your side until I am released.". He didn't think it was that funny. His partner did as he strode up to the passenger side of my truck. Luckily, being in a small town I knew both of them. I was let go about fifteen seconds later. wez Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 That bothered me bad.. They were in her freaking house! So if they're going to totally go against the CONSTITUTION and confiscate everyones weapons, are they saying "we will protect you", always? Taking that one guys guns and actually smashing them?? Why did they let people rot for a week before "protecting" them? You know the thugs had guns.. Apparently had police and national guard costumes too.. Not personally a fan of guns but gun control by government is bull and feel much safer knowing most of the citizenship have them... If anyone should be disarmed it's the current garbage posing as leaders of the United States... Sign of things to come.. Quote

eddo Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 and he married my ex-wife. There's a joke in there somewhere... A senior citizen in Florida bought a brand new Corvette convertible. He took off down the road, flooring it to 80 mph enjoying the wind blowing through what little hair he had left on his head. "This is great," he thought as he roared down I-75. He pushed the pedal to the metal even more. Then he looked in his rear view mirror and saw a highway patrol trooper behind him, blue lights flashing and siren blaring. "I can get away from him with no problem" thought the man and he tromped it some more and flew down the road at over 100 mph. Then 110, 120 mph. Then he thought, "What am I doing? I'm too old for this kind of thing." He pulled over to the side of the road and waited for the trooper to catch up with him. The trooper pulled in behind the Corvette and walked up to the man. "Sir," he said, looking at his watch. "My shift ends in 30 minutes and today is Friday. If you can give me a reason why you were speeding that I've never heard before, I'll let you go." The man looked at the trooper and said, "Years ago my wife ran off with a Florida State Trooper, and I thought you were bringing her back." "Have a good day, Sir," said the Trooper. I really can't see it happing here in Alaska were 90% of Alaskans own guns. They would have a hell of a time rounding them all up. Not to mention a mis-hap or two trying to do so.
