RoyalOrleans Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 To say that Europeans are fond of Barack Obama would be an understatement. It seems that he has reached the same level of adulation and worship as he has in the United States. So when asked who Europeans would prefer to see elected as the next US president, it is no surprise that citizens of France, Germany and the UK all chose Barack Obama ... by a landslide. In the UK, Obama was favored 60-15. In France, 64-4. And in Germany, they chose Barack Obama by a margin of 62-10 over John McCain. Frankly, I'm surprised that the numbers were this low. Now if it were up to people like Barack Obama, the opinions of these foreign countries would matter. Remember Obama's thermostat comment ... "We can't drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times ... and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK." What does it matter what other countries think about our habits? In fact, what business is it of our president? But the Europeans sure can't wait for this guy to be in power. Now here's something that you won't hear from any of the networks when it comes to analyzing the European infatuation over Obama. Several months ago the Pew Research Center did some polling in Europe. That polling showed that 58 percent of Europeans want the United States to be weakened. They want a weaker America. Oddly, that 58 percent figure is pretty close to the margin for Obama. So how are you going to feel about European attitudes about our presidential election if you walk up to someone on the street and have this dialogue: "Would you like the United States to be weaker or stronger." "Weaker." "Who do you support, then, for president?" "Barack Obama" Does anyone care to look into the motives behind this European love affair with The Messiah? Britons, French, Germans Solidly Back Obama Quote To be the Man, you've got to beat the Man. - Ric Flair Everybody knows I'm known for dropping science.

It appears to be the business of the government of California where you set your thermostat... Next year in California, state regulators are likely to have the emergency power to control individual thermostats, sending temperatures up or down through a radio-controlled device that will be required in new or substantially modified houses and buildings to manage electricity shortages. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/11/us/11control.html?_r=2&ref=us&oref=slogin&oref=slogin Quote

Most people can just feel Obama is not a corrupt jerk like most other politicians. People that prefer McCain seem to just do so because he is the Republican candidate. How is that a good reason to vote for someone? Sounds just stubborn to me. Quote

ImWithStupid Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 People that prefer McCain seem to just do so because he is the Republican candidate. How is that a good reason to vote for someone? Sounds just stubborn to me. First off, I'm not a fan of McCain, but I'm definitely anti-Obama. Now for reasons not to like Obama. I'll start here and if you need more, let me know. He touts raisning taxes on the rich and small business. It has been proven in history that trying to redistribute the wealth by raising taxes on the rich hurts the economy and places more tax burdon on the middle class. Right now the top 10% wealthiest people pay about 70% of the total income tax, the top 25% pays about 86% of the tax burden and the bottom 50% only pays about 3%. How can anyone say that the rich aren't paying their fair share now? When the rich get taxed they quit reinvesting the money, this slows expansion and people lose jobs. I don't think I have ever been given a job by a poor person. Every economic theory, including Marxism, agrees that capital formation is the key to faster growth and higher standards of living. In other words, if workers are paid on the basis of what they produce, it makes sense to adopt tax policies that encourage investment in the tools, equipment, machinery, and technology that help them produce more. Here is what happened in the 80's when Reagan lowered the tax rates on the rich... The top tax rate fell from 70 percent in 1980 to 28 percent in 1988 during the Reagan years. What happened to the "rich"? The top 1 percent went from shouldering 17.6 percent of the income tax burden in 1981 to paying 27.5 percent of the total in 1988. The top 10 percent saw their share of the burden climb from 48 percent in 1981 to 57.2 percent in 1988. High tax rates on the rich, hurts the poor. The Dems know this but if they say different they wouldn't be able to buy the votes of the poor and ignorant who want the handouts that are promised. Now, let me ask this. Can anyone name one substantial thing Obama has done in his career besides being a good public speaker? Quote

Just as every one of his other lies, are whisked away as forgetfullness or fatigue, but McCain gets chastised for any misspoken comment as an old, forgetful fool, who doesn't know what he is talking about. So he should have said, "just this past week we passed out of the US Senate banking committee, which is MY BILL, a bill to call for divestment from Iraq..."? That almost makes sense. How about this example of him obviously lying about his vote in the Illinois Senate when his choice was unpopular. Obama said oops on 6 state Senate votes He pushed the wrong button, he asserted at the time. Two of the admitted flubs were on hotly contested issues. By Peter Wallsten, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer January 24, 2008 Barack Obama angered fellow Democrats in the Illinois Senate when he voted to strip millions of dollars from a child welfare office on Chicago's West Side. But Obama had a ready explanation: He goofed. "I was not aware that I had voted no," he said that day in June 2002, asking that the record be changed to reflect that he "intended to vote yes."
