Guest NewsBot Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 WASHINGTON (AP) -- Anthrax-laced letters that killed five people and severely rattled the post-9/11 nation may have been part of an Army scientist's warped plan to test his cure for the deadly toxin, officials said Friday. The brilliant but troubled scientist committed suicide this week, knowing prosecutors were closing in.... By MATT APUZZO and LARA JAKES JORDAN Read the full story. Quote
phreakwars Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Boy, does this, or does this not just figure? I say the best probable suspect is a dead suspect. It's getting treated as a "CASE CLOSED". Evidently, here is what I am supposed to believe.... This like mad scientist dude wanted to test out like this antidote for anthrax he had made, and like, in order to test it, he had to distribute it to people... Uhm OK, my question in all this is like... if you were gonna poison people to test your anthrax cure, wouldn't you wanna just HAPPEN to be in the area where the Anthrax is located so that you could like distribute your drug and "SAVE" the world? See, this plays out like a horribly written movie I have seen (OR PROBABLY WILL SOON BE SEEING THANKS TO THE HACK WRITERS OF HOLLYWOOD ). It's a dumb theory at best, and yet already I am hearing (reading) the "IT WASN'T REALLY A SUICIDE" type gossip and what have you. So I thought to myself.. hell, why not make this a poll? . . snafu Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 I don't know what to make of it myself. But the one thing I'm glad for is that the scheme didn't kill as many people as it could have. It was a blessing in disguise. We are far more alert. The Post Offices have now equipped themselves with anthrax detectors and plans for such another attack. All letter mail goes through this machine. Funny thing is why did they make it only detect anthrax? Ricin and a few other nasties should have been added. I guess we need a head count to determine if it's needed. RoyalOrleans Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Yeah... I've seen this movie, too. Dustin Hoffman was in it. At any rate, I feel as though he is guilty because he didn't "stand it like a man". He took the pussy's way out by committing suicide. Now the little conspiracy theorist in my head is sh!tting all over my "good he's dead" train of thought. hugo Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 I still think Barack Obama was involved.
