New Details in Case of Family Held Hostage In Lavonia Trailer Last Edited: Wednesday, 13 Aug 2008, 11:14 PM EDT Created: Wednesday, 13 Aug 2008, 11:14 PM EDT Raymond Daniel Thurmond was arrested and charged with keeping his wife and children captive inside their trailer for several years. SideBar Reported By: Aungelique Proctor Edited By: Leigha Baugham LAVONIA, Ga. (MyFOX Atlanta) – A Lavonia man was behind bars Wednesday, accused of holding his wife and four children captive in their trailer for three years. The conditions inside the trailer were horrible. Police said 36-year-old Raymond Thurmond forced his family to live in filth and refused to let them outside. Investigators found the deplorable conditions inside a mobile home on Beaver Creek Road in Lavonia, Georgia. Video taken by the property manager showed roaches everywhere, trash piled several feet high and filthy appliances filled with soiled food. Police said Thurman lived at the residence with his wife and four children. According to the police chief, Thurman held is family captive at the mobile home for three solid years and even forbade his wife from cleaning up. Property manager Alma Medina videotaped the squalor. Medina collected the rent for two years and lived on the same street, but said she never saw the wife or the four children, aged 14, 13, 12 and 9-years-old. The police chief said the children were deprived of everything from balanced meals and medical care to a formal education. Neighbors who saw Thurman on a regular basis were stunned. Thurman, who works at an area poultry plant, was being held Wednesday night without bond on one count of rape, five counts of false imprisonment and four counts of cruelty to children. Trails End Mobile Home Park 5975 Lights Ferry Road Flowery Branch GA 30542 Hall County Invasion of trailer trash... Might have to wheel mine on down and bring a bit of culture.. looks like a nice place.. Hope they don't have rules against pink flamingo's .... Personally, I'd live in a cardboard box before I go into debt ... like herpes, debt is forever... Bought one in 95' and was able to save enough to buy a house outright over the years.. even with the ridiculous rise in prices it only took 11 years, not 30. I haven't even worked for the last 2 years other than part time in the summer for $10 an hour. Haven't had to. Never made more than $25,000 in any year either.. Should be able to triple that income after I'm done with nursing school, which I will graduate from with no debt.. Couldn't have gone back to school either had I ever bought a house and went into debt.. Lucky I was smart enough to see the effect of choices at 20 on my life at 35 and beyond.. Nice to be a freebird at 40.. I hope home values tumble 90%.. They should, but they wont.. "free market" forces and all.. A house aint gonna pay me 9% interest. Quite the opposite. What else is funny, my credit score is over 800 for never wanting credit... I've always used credit cards, but always payed in full every month. My Discover card loses money on me.. They pay me cash back for purchases and I never give them a penny in interest. I imagine they hate my bloody guts.. good. Good for you for being so fukking responsible Wez. lol... That sounds perfect for me too.. Gonna buy one for cash one day. I like the park I live in, most I don't either. Matter of fact, never saw another I would want to live in. They have pretty sound rules for who can and can't live here.. If there's 2 bedrooms, maximum of 3 people, 3 bedrooms, 4 people, and everyone must own and be approved by the managment before they can buy one. I'm surprised they didn't sell it off for houses during the boom.. beautiful woods right on the north end of town. Very well kept and managed.. Been here longer than I've been alive. Mostly older folks, very few kids. Very quiet. Never had any problems in 13 years.. Other than a drunken neighbor with a colostomy bag. There's another park on the south end of town that fits that sterotype well.. Quote

I don't know if you meant it metaphorically or figuratively, but in the literal sense: debt is not forever. You can pay down debt, you can get out of debt, and be free. Well, dressing like Lee is kind of like wanting to emulate the French. Speaking of, it's nice to see that France is no longer happy with just surrendering themselves, but Sarkozy saw fit to surrender a completly separate country, in the Republic of Georgia. Quote
