ImWithStupid Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 My freedom comes from my creator.. free will.. Not men killing men or living in fear only to say what I think other people think I should think. I'm sorry but killing people goes against everything I believe in. Doesn't mean I don't care about the young men and women who think they're doing the right thing because old people lie and ask them to die for them and rally the country to cheer em on all the way to the grave with the promise of hero status and 17 virgins.. Reaping the rewards, i.e. your freedoms, provided by the willingness of the defenders of your freedom to kill to privide it for those that are unwilling, is in it's base, support of those actions. You may never admit it, but it's fact. It's quite obvious that you have never traveled abroad and seen what happenes to nations that aren't willing to fight. Show me where I bashed anyone.. matter of fact, go take over for IWS on that McCain/Mengele debate.. He went MIA.. You know the one.. please explain. I was going to argue on the side of Mengele but the whole thing was quite trite and meaningless. I figured I'd drop it knowing full well you wouldn't and I was right. Won back my money on the religious quote bet. Quote
wez Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Being a former member of the Air Force, I have been all over the world, but not to Iran... But I can tell you that freedom is indeed ralative... EG... you were free to criticize anyone you wanted to in the Soviet regime, but not the communist party... so I guess, as long as you were a communist, you were free... It's kinda the same in this country whether people want to believe it or not... Fear is indeed opposite of true respect... But to everyone else except the fearing or the repected, they are the same... or at least, they produce the same results. 4 quaters is NOT a dollar... but it will buy the same ... but you are right They are not the same and do not produce the same results, but rather the opposite. Respect produces peace, love and understanding. Fear produces hate and sudden, violent explosions as well as drawn out occupations of death with an illusionary, false sense of security and paranoia for varying periods in between. but you are right. Not to sound like an arrogant ass, but... I know. and thank you.. Quote

You may never admit it, but it's fact. Other men do not give me my freedom.. they can only try to take it away. I may not be willing to kill for it, but would certainly die for it. Free will. Isn't it odd that the way they claim to give it to me, is the way they try to take it away? It's quite obvious that you have never traveled abroad and seen what happenes to nations that aren't willing to fight. They quietly get swallowed by countries like mine and sh t out the other end while no one notices? (See Panama vid) Perhaps if some actual journalists still existed in the world they may think twice about it. I was going to argue on the side of Mengele but the whole thing was quite trite and meaningless. I figured I'd drop it knowing full well you wouldn't and I was right. Won back my money on the religious quote bet. Meaningless eh? I aint letting you out now. Lets go.. I'll take John.. if your defense skills for Joe suck, I'll help ya out. You can begin by defining the difference.. give us a starting point. Bombs vs. a scalpel.. epic. Quote
jokersarewild Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 So, anyway, back to the thread subject...(vaguely) I saw a good chunk of Palin (TV out partway through), and all of Guliani. Palin's speech appeared to be akin to Guliani's: "no ur a fag!!!111!!!". Palin's speech's point was to tell the world that Obama/Biden are the bad guys. It wasn't horribly delivered, but it was still tacky. Not as tacky as Guliani, of course, but still bad. BTW, why do they let Guliani talk? All he does is make the party look like a bunch of sarcastic assholes. He gives speeches like I'd expect Lewis Black to, but less hilarious. The funniest part of both of their speeches, however, was the "Obama will raise taxes and McCain will lower them" chunk. Omitted qualifiers: "Obama will raise taxes"...for the rich. "McCain will lower taxes"...for the rich. I'm sitting here about to watch his speech, preparing for him to spout it. I'm actually expecting him to fail, but I might be mildly surprised. eddo Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 BTW, why do they let Guliani talk? That is a damn good question, and one that I have no idea the answer too. No, they?re just going to tax ?businesses.? So unless you buy something from a ?business,? like groceries or clothes or gasoline... or unless you get a paycheck from a big or a small ?business,? don?t worry... it?s not going to affect you. They say they are not going to take any water out of your side of the bucket, just the ?other? side of the bucket! That?s their idea of tax reform.? ?Fred Thompson http://Off Topic Forum.com/off-topic-bs/61-give-me-quotes-or-give-me-death-22.html#post68388 Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws.
