Old Salt Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Well, it's official. He won't be going, and neither will Cheney. But they will send Laura. I guess "their" prayers were answered. Quote
wez Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 He's not gonna head to the Padre Islands and scream "bring it on"? What a joke.. yeah.. he's gonna monitor Gustav. I think they know he would hurt McSh tstains chances more than help it and told him to stay away. War criminals make bad endorsers. Quote
RoyalOrleans Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I have to agree with wez on this one, boys and girls. I digress. Despite his many inequities, he's not a war criminal, wez. Not my favorite president, but I will stand up for that sort of accusation. Quote To be the Man, you've got to beat the Man. - Ric Flair Everybody knows I'm known for dropping science.

Was that a legal war by any stretch of anyones imagination? Made me a 19 year old war criminal. Thanks.. preciate it. Quote

If Bush were to go it would've been as brief as possible. And a damn shame seeings how the majority of the people believed the way he did for almost two terms. They wanted to limit the attention on his failed administration, just like the RNC would want to do with Bush's. Quote
phreakwars Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Bush says to John: We'll have none of THIS goin on Johnny: I gotta pretend like I "CARE" about New Orleans before I am lynched this time around, save me a slice of cake.. . . Bush got his butt ripped apart during Katrina for "not moving fast enough, and now that he is being proactive about it he is "just using it as an excuse." The guy is damned if he does, and he's damned if he doesn't. Because you know, Bush like totally made katrina hit New Orleans and he like totally made the completely corrupt Democratically controlled governments not have an evacuation plan for the citizens of a city below sea level when there was more than five days notice that a huge hurricane was coming to destroy the city. But it was Bush's fault. I will however blame Bush for giving one red cent of my tax dollars to rebuild in the same damn place that was flooded with the last storm. I'm glad that the people of New Orleans re-elected the same corrupt Dem mayor and city council that caused the last problem. The only fortunate choice they made this time, after not electing him before Katrina, was electing Republican Governor Bobby Jindal, who by the way initiated the idea of evacuating New Orleans this time, and getting rid of Dem governor Kathleen Blanco, who did nothing during, before or after Katrina but point her corrupt, liberal finger at Bush. snafu Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 It always takes a body count.. Alway! Nobody wants to spend the extra dime until it's too late and then those same exact people are the ones that point the finger. I believe the head of FEAMA was already fired for his inept attempt even though he probably lobbied for more funds ever since in office. Yeah you got your escape goat but people still wanted more blood so they went for the jugular of Bush... He appointed Michael Brown to head FIMA even though he had limited local experience with emergency management. I still claim the majority of the fault was on local and state officials. They didn't evacuate and Bush had even pledged support days in advance back then like he is now, the local and state officials didn't do their job pre-landfall of Katrina, which would have done more to help than the FEMA/Bush caused problems after. If the locals were proactive like they should have been with several days notice, the human problems after would have been small. Quote

You got to have states rights and allow them to govern themselves. You send in the troops and you can piss a lot of people off as we saw with them confiscating guns. FEMA has alway been underfunded and rely on the Red Cross and other non profit organizations to come in on a pinch. They need reform on allowing the Federal Governments roll in natural disasters on what they can and can't do. Quote "You can't stop insane people from doing insane things by passing insane laws. It's not just that but, historically, a state has to request federal assistance in a disaster. Bush threw it out there ahead of time, like he is now, but nobody local asked for days which was part of the delay. The local governments should have made the request sooner. Quote

Evacuation plans were in place. Schools buses were lined up to help out, and they ended up getting flooded because nobody did anything to get them moving. ImWithStupid Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 . Ray Nagin is a moron, but at least he got moving ahead of time this go 'round. If I remember right, Bobby Jindal got the ball rolling before Nagin this time also. Nagin is a corrupt, normal New Orleans politician. Everyone knows that New Orleans is the most corrupt political environment in the US, only rivaled by Chicago as far as major cities, but NO is worse. Quote
