Guest Fullauto Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I personally feel that the McCain camp is making a HUGE mistake by making such a big deal about a comment that wasn't meant to refer to the Govenor of AK... I have used this many times, and it has many incarnations... Lipstick on a pig perfume on a turd any more? point is, any person that is half intelligent will see this as nothing more than an attempt at humor... Shame on you McCain:mad: Quote
Phantom Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I totally agree. It is being blown way out of proportion. This campaign season is rife with nit picky petty back biting. It was completely taken out of context. And the two things that make this really odd are the following: 1). McCain supposedly used the exact same phrase to refer to Hillary's campaign last year. 2). Palin used a similar reference to describe herself. She said the only difference between her and a pitbull is lipstick. I can't stand Obama but this is so minor it's silly. I'm far more concerned with the pundits who make the sexist claims against Palin that she cannot be a mother and vice president at the same time. As if how dare she rise to the top. She should be barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen taking care of the children. 1 Quote Blah.

eddo Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 the media jumped on this first, and they jumped hard. Can't put all the blame on this on McCain and his peeps. Also, Obama should have known better than to use that phrase so soon after Palin 's pitbull comment. But alas, I agree. This is being made way too much a big deal over. Shame on you McCain:mad: Obama was obviously taking a jab at Palin, just not the one they are saying. Obama can say whatever he wants, but it was obvious from his delivery and reaction of the crowd, that he was making reference to Palin's hockey mom/pittbull commment. The problem is, Obama wasn't insinuating that Palin was a pig, he was making the jab that Palin was nothing but cosmetics. Definitely a big to do about nothing, but he's flat out lying to say that there was no jab at Palin. McCain's campaign should have let this one go at a jab back or at least not go as far as make a commercial on it. Quote

Not to much more to explain. I don't remember where I read it, but one of the news outlets jumped on this almost immediately after Obama made the comment. and it spread like wildfire. Last night it was everywhere. The media is trying to force feed us this pseudo-drama because much of America eats it up- just like on all the reality tv shows. You got this, the "stolen" flags in the "garbage", an unmarried pregnant daughter, and a bunch of other crap the we keep getting bombarded with from the media. Quote I'm trusted by more women.

Like I said though I don't think he compared her to the pig, he was comparing her to the lipstick. I think it's funny that not only is Obama letting Olbermann write his speeches for him, when Olbermann told him the other day in an interview that, he should get more angry when he says, "enough" like he did in his acceptance speech, and this morning Obama did just that, but he stole the lead up to the "pig/lipstick" comment from a cartoon... John McCain says he's about change too. Exce- and and so I guess his whole angle is - watch out' date=' George Bush - except for economic policy, healthcare policy, tax policy, education policy, foreign policy, and Karl-Rove-style politics, we're really gonna shake things up in Washington.[/color'] That's not change. That's that's just callin' sumpin' the same thing somethin' different. But you know, you can't, you know, you you can put, ah, lipstick on a pig, (pause) it's still a pig. timesjoke Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Once Sarah used the lipstick line in her acceptance speech, she became attached to any use of lipstick as a jab from the Liberals, Obama is a very deliberate speaker, he is given praise by all sides for his speaking abilities and he has been picture perfect to the PC gods so are we now going to believe that he does not know how connected lipstick comments are to her? I don't think so, clearly he was taking a shot at her but as someone else said, I think he was calling her lipstick on McCain as the pig. Even if he is completely innocent, I still see this as a good thing. Obama has made adds that were complete lies like the one where he says McCain wanted to stay in Iraq for 100 years. McCain never said that but Obama used a twist on McCain's words to create a false attack. At the worse, Obama is just getting back what he has given. Quote

ImWithStupid Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Just in case someone thinks I'm making up the point of the Dem that introduced Biden bringing up lipstick in another comment, here it is... Obama, Dems sharpen personal attacks on Palin By JIM VANDEHEI & MIKE ALLEN 9/9/08 6:40 PM EST Sarah Palin is drawing heavy criticism from Democrats. Barack Obama and his Democratic allies are intensifying their attacks on Sarah Palin, as her sustained and surprising central role in this race is upending Obama’s strategy and often overshadowing McCain. Democratic Congressman Russ Carnahan on Tuesday — introducing Joe Biden at a campaign event — ripped into Palin’s record and punctuated it with this snarky jab. “There’s no way you can dress up that record, even with a lot of lipstick,” he said. Later in the day, Obama used a variation of the lipstick line, though he was clearly talking about the McCain-Palin reform rhetoric. "You can put lipstick on a pig," he said. "It's still a pig." Obama, Dems sharpen personal attacks on Palin - Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen - Politico.com You can't tell me this wasn't a coordinated attack on Palin. Again, they weren't saying she was a pig, they are trying to say she's just a pretty face. Quote
ImWithStupid Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Obmama may not need to appologize for the "pig" thing but the Dems should appologize for this... Tennessee Rep. Compares Obama to Jesus, Suggests Palin is Pontius Pilate by FOXNews.com Wednesday, September 10, 2008 Tennessee Rep. Steve Cohen riled Republicans Wednesday after he compared Barack Obama to Jesus Christ and suggested Sarah Palin is akin to Pontius Pilate. The Tennessee Democrat, who supports Obama, was on the House floor giving a one-minute speech when he offered the comparisons. “If you want change, you want the Democratic Party,” Cohen said. “Barack Obama was a community organizer like Jesus, who our minister prayed about. Pontius Pilate was a governor.” http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/10/tennessee-rep-compares-obama-to-jesus-suggests-palin-is-pilate/ It's horrible to say Obama is like Jesus because of him being a community organizer and Palin has to be like Pontius Pilot because he was a "govorner" two thousand years ago. This is an attack. Quote
phreakwars Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Of course it is an attack, and I'd expect more. It's only fair since from the start of his campaign, he has been called An elitist, socialist, Marxist, prejudice, Muslim, extremist and the list goes on and on and on without the OTHER side once focusing on the issues. If I were Obama I'd make these same types of jabs too.. Ya know why? Because I am a firm believer that even bad publicity is good publicity... tell me McCain isn't doing it with his totally hot, totally dysfunctional famliy, VP pick. He's now using his "I WAS A POW" play along with the "SEXISM" issue. I say, give him what he wants. All McCain has to do, is deliver back an ACTUAL video of the issues... I guess he'd rather play tiresome politics as usual and keep the National Enquirer voter base happy. . . Quote https://www.facebook.com/phreakwars
