What's your favorite memory as a kid?

And we were trying different things

We were smoking funny things

Making love out by the lake to our favorite song

Sipping whiskey out the bottle, not thinking 'bout tomorrow

Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

Singing Sweet home Alabama all summer long

My Dad installed a towel bar on the dash of his truck so we had something to hold onto. Not enough seat belts and no car seats. I'm still alive! Alas I have no teeth. Slamming into that towel bar really hurt :p

My God.. I never did it but my cousin and some other friends one night got on the hood and roof and side steps of a suburban whilst my cousin barreled down a country road at 80 mph like right after he got his license..

They still talk about being lucky to be alive..

It would have to be the first fish I ever caught. I was about 10. I'd been fishing for years but had never caugh anything until then, neither had my friend. We were fishing the River Sowe. I was using a small artificial fly, as I was sick of messing with maggots.

It was beautiful there. The sun was sparkling in the water. The trees were green and moving in the breeze. Suddenly the rod was twitching and tugging. I'd often wondered what it might feel like with a fish on the other end.

It felt like a big one. When I got it ashore it was a tiddly little thing about 2 inches long. It was a dace I was told. I got him free and put him back. I felt like a football star with that crowd of kids round me.

I must have been 7 or 8 years old and we were moving from Alaska to California (one base to the next). Every time we would move we would go across the United States back to the east coast to visit relatives. I would cross the states with my parents, my two brothers, my dog snafu and our parakeet Peewee, all crammed in our Rambler station wagon. Our journeys were always a vacation too. Well we were at Yosemite Park and we decided to swim in the frigid waters coming down from the falls. My dad was taking a video (no sound back then) of us jumping off a bridge. Well after I jumped in the rapids took me by surprise and I thought I was gonna drown. I was flailing around when my brother walked up in knee high in water and and picked me up. All I had to do was just stand up. But everybody gets a kick out of the video when we watch it. :D

I spent my whole summers in the woods everyday while living in Scott Air Force base ILI. We would catch blue gills and shoot our bow and arrows. We would also have bb gun fights across the creek there until I got shot in the crotch. That kinda took me out of the game.

I was thinking about my Dad teaching us to dive off the dock at the lake. He was being a particularly big asshole that day. So when he dove off and hit his head on a rock at the bottom and came up bleeding....ahhhh...good times.

One name...

Molly Thomas

One location...

Her bedroom while her parents out of town.

One problem...

Her little brother would not go to bed

One solution...

Went to Wal-Mart, bought the kid some crayons, coloring books, and several other knick-knacks.

I was thirteen and Molly was seventeen. Man... what a life I've lead.

I watched Apocalypse Now this weekend, and it got me thinking. I love this movie, but it reminded me of my English teacher in High School. Mr. Clarke was 6'3", smelled yummy, had a great smile, and an even more amazing body... sigh . I ran into him at home last year...he looks better now than he did then...if that's possible. I went all hot and sweaty and felt like I was 16 again. It was nice....oh yeah...we watched Apocalypse Now in English Class....

Small world, I had a Mr Clarke teaching 9th grade science. I wasn't doing homework and he told me on a Friday he was mailing a letter to my house and to make sure my parents signed it and I returned it. He dropped dead of a heart attack while mowing his yard the next day. Must have been before he went to the mailbox. Great memory. His replacement was Ms. Fiorino the only really hot teacher I ever had.
