Phantom Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Wez, your question has been answered numerous times how we are all hypocrites. Your question has also been answered about the difference between this situation and religious hypocrites (Pharisee-like behavior or acknowledging Him with our lips but not with our hearts). And, no, it is not an escape. We are told there will be those who cannot grasp the wisdom of the spirit. Yes, it is Christian and biblical. We are told when they try to comprehend the language of the spirit and the Bible, that it will be like a person reading a language that is foreign to them. That is coming from God-Breathed scripture- not me. If I was to not acknowledge this fact, I would be a hypocrite. The pedantic issue comes in when it is clear you have been answered many times, ask the same questions, receive the answer again, ask the same question, dwell on issues that do not exist or have already been explained, and create contradictions that do not exist. That is exactly why I said previously I do not want to get involved in this debate. I'm sorry you are not able to grasp the concept that there is hypocrisy in us all and that Jesus' issue lies in religious hypocrites. Blah.
Phantom Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 You must not have read the post several back where I already said I watched it. And is it not written that a hypocrite does not know the father, or I? I have already said this is what Jesus Himself said. But what does the video show? That the man is a Child of God. A true child of God. Therein lies the difference. Blah.

What construes a religious hypocrite, from your everyday average hypocrite?
Phantom Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 What construes a religious hypocrite, from your everyday average hypocrite? I have already answered that. Blah.
wez Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I have already answered that. So a person who openly denounces God, and practices hypocrisy is not a religious hypocrite? VS. Someone who openly praises God, and claims to follow the teachings of Christ, yet acts the opposite?
eddo Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 as a final attempt to help get at least everyone on the same page, I think wez's definition of the word "hypocrite" is very different than mine, and quite possibly Phantom's and Snafu's. Main Entry: hyp?o?crite Pronunciation: ˈhi-pə-ˌkrit Function: noun Etymology: Middle English ypocrite, from Anglo-French, from Late Latin hypocrita, from Greek hypokritēs actor, hypocrite, from hypokrinesthai Date: 13th century 1 : a person who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion 2 : a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings — hypocrite adjective hypocrite - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary Another: hyp?o?crite /ˈhɪpəkrɪt/ Pronunciation Key - –noun 1. a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie stated beliefs. 2. a person who feigns some desirable or publicly approved attitude, esp. one whose private life, opinions, or statements belie his or her public statements. —Related forms hyp?o?crit?i?cal, adjective hyp?o?crit?i?cal?ly, adverb hypocrite definition |Dictionary.com A bit further into the original language show us the word "hypokritēs" hypokritēs (as used in Matthew 24:51) Pronunciation: h?-po-krē-tā's Part of Speech: masculine noun 1) one who answers, an interpreter 2) an actor, stage player 3) a dissembler, pretender, hypocrite Blue Letter Bible - Lexicon A hypocrite is someone who puts on a show to make themselves look better than they are. Notice how none of the definitions say anything about "Judging others for what you in fact are." I don't mean to appear nit-picky, but I think differing views on what this word means and represents is a major stumbling block in this discussion. I'm trusted by more women.

Someone who openly praises God, and claims to follow the teachings of Christ, yet acts the opposite? Yes. Remember the passage in Revelation where Jesus actually has a preference for those who openly deny Him over the lukewarm religious hypocrites who only pretend to love and serve Him. He actually tells the lukewarm that He would prefer them to be hot or cold. Even cold towards Him over a religious hypocrite. And that such people will be spewed from His mouth. That is a huge sign that His problem is with religious hypocrites. Blah.
wez Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I don't fit any of those definitions eddo.. but you do. Yet you judge, label, and look down on me and call me a hypocrite?
wez Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Yes. Good enough..
wez Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 So by your own words and definitions eddo.. you have been a practicing religious hypocrite. Correct?
eddo Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 So by your own words and definitions eddo.. you have been a practicing religious hypocrite. Correct? Nope, not a bit. I'm not perfect, but I'm not a pretender, nor are my faiths just for show. My faith is very real. Be careful now, wez: Matthew 7 1Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? 5Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. Just saying. I'm trusted by more women.

Just saying. My eye is clear eddo.. would you like yours to be?
wez Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Have you ever tried to bring harm to myself, or others in my presence in the 3 1/2 years we have known each other? Have you talked behind peoples backs in a negative manner?
eddo Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 My eye is clear eddo.. would you like yours to be? How do you know mine's not? Best check out that first verse in Matthew 7 again. God will work on me as He sees fit wez. He and I are pretty tight, ya know. If you don't have a relationship with God yourself, He's wiling- are you? I'm trusted by more women.
wez Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Have you ever tried to bring harm to myself, or others in my presence in the 3 1/2 years we have known each other? Have you talked behind peoples backs in a negative manner? Have you ever looked down on someone for what you've done, and punished them for it? Have you ever lied about me or said anything concerning myself to attempt to make me look bad to others? Did you attempt to hurt me in a way only I would understand with some personal information before I revealed it myself?
wez Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Have you ever manipulated the people around you and acted in malice towards myself you to serve your own selfish desires? Have you ever acted in malice towards myself or another out of jealousy?
Phantom Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Have you ever manipulated the people around you to serve your own selfishness? Of course. Eddo has done all of those things. How do I know this? Because he is a human being. The thing is, Eddo is going to have Jesus step on the scale for Him when the time comes. Blah.
wez Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Of course. Eddo has done all of those thing. How do I know this? Because he is a human being. Is that not religious hypocrisy Aery? And please don't answer for eddo. That's his job.
wez Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Have you ever seen me act that way Aery? And I don't claim to be Christian. Why is it I know better? I'm human too.. Is Jesus gonna step on my scale?
wez Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD. Does this hold any meaning to you Aery?
Phantom Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Not according to the bible.. Or your previous, or his previous words and subsequent clarification. Is that not religious hypocrisy Aery? And please don't answer for eddo. That's his job. Earlier you asked me to answer for Eddo. By the way, I'm not answering for Eddo. Jesus will. Have you ever seen me act that way Aery? And I don't claim to be Christian. Why is it I know better? I'm human too.. Is Jesus gonna step on my scale? The video explained all of this. It doesn't matter. Those non-Christians were 'worse people' than the Child of God. If you want Jesus to step on your scale, you will need to ask Him. And in order to do that, you will need to admit that you are not righteous in your own power. I wish you the best. Blah.
eddo Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Have you ever seen me act that way Aery? And I don't claim to be Christian. Why is it I know better? I'm human too.. Is Jesus gonna step on my scale? Are you putting on a false appearance of virtue??? hmmmm, something to think about Wez. Like Aery said- Yes, I have done those things. I've not ever claimed to be perfect. In fact, in this very thread I have said multiple times that I am not. You are the one that keeps thinking I am perfect. I have even multiple times said I am a hypocrite. But I am forgiven as well. I'm not sure why you are so bent on my sins, but you have your own to worry about. I will worry about mine. I'm trusted by more women.

Now they're sins and not religious hypocrisy? Must be nice to have a free pass, eh? 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD. Does this mean anything to either of you?
