This has nothing to do with injustices to me, sure I am the one involved in the actions but I am almost meaningless, the point has never been about me.

 

The injustice being done is to the forum, not me.

 

Think about it this way, is it right for society when a cop let's his buddy go home driving drunk but arrests the next guy? Any system where rules are set aside for personal feelings is wrong and hurts the group or society. I am easy to gang up on because I am a very vocal and hard line personality but when you start making one exception to the rules then you pave the way for two then three then before you know it, there are no rules.

 

Wez is a great example, he pushes the rules every day. He has been chasing eddo all over the forum for over a year now with his hurt feelings over things that happened at other forums. The rules say that Wez cannot bring his dirty laundry from other forums to this forum. But, wez has been getting a pass on this rule for so long now it is close to impossible to call him down on it.

 

There is a saying that rules are meant to be broken, I don't buy that, bad rules are meant to be broken maybe but good rules keep sanity and a refusal to follow good rules is anarchy.

 

 

When the powers that be made these rules there had to be some discussion and great pains put into wording them just so, most likely posting them in the staff forum or on messenger so all three could offer input and make changes. I am sure the rule about dirty laundry was a source of a lot of work and consideration so why put all that work into a rule just to never enforce it?

 

Here is the rub, just like the real world it is not the rules that matter, it is the enforcement. Murder can be illegal but if the police refuse to arrest anyone for murder, then in reality, murder is legal because you can never get in trouble for it.

 

 

The same is true here, we can have a written rule but if the staff refuse to enforce this rule then the rule becomes meaningless.
